It bothers me that pluots are not called plummicots. It bothers me a lot. But I still eat them.

coffee is obviously going to win
― Hurting 2, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 00:13 (sixteen years ago) link
winner: nectarine.
Right you are. But with all genetic engineering with all sorts of fruits, drupes, druplets and what have you, I'm yet to see a nectarine (or peach) with a skin that doesn't feel all strange and uncomfortable. The trait which brings the nectarine down from it's near perfect status.

go pistachio!!

Oh my GOD what a fantastic idea for a poll. But it's like choosing between father, son and holy ghost!
The reason I bought my first pluot was it had a sticker featuring a brontosaurus in front of the planet Saturn.

This is worse than "who would u fuk!" I can't vote. It would be wrong.
― Beth Parker, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 01:56 (sixteen years ago) link
Pistachio's the one that's really throwing me, because I could eat a whole bag of 'em in one sitting. Makin' like Leslie Nielsen trying to get out of the car, ya know? But a pistachio isn't a nectarine, no sir.

I'd have to check with a botanist, but I think a brontosaurus in front of the planet Saturn is probably technically considered a drupe as well. On account of drupes are awesome, and so is that.

I voted for raspberries, but I felt bad about it. Awww, peaches! So delicious with...raspberries!
― Beth Parker, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 23:27 (sixteen years ago) link
But I actually have been consuming HUGE quantities of cherries.
Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

I bought a giant bag of cherries because houseguests were coming—it cost 32 dollars—the cashier asked me if I was sure, and in a fit of grandiosity I said NO PROBLEM. Then I forgot about them and they TURNED INTO COMPOST.
― Beth Parker, Thursday, 30 August 2007 23:08 (sixteen years ago) link
How big does a bag of cherries have to be to cost $32 dollars? Were you going to fill a tub with them?
― kingkongvsgodzilla, Friday, 31 August 2007 00:51 (sixteen years ago) link
omg beth that is so sad! cherries are the only fruit that ever surprise me with their price once at the checkout. which is why i only buy them when they are btwn 1.99 and 2.99/lb. anything more than that is how you get a $32 bag of cherries
i still do not know what this thread is about
― rrrobyn, Friday, 31 August 2007 00:57 (sixteen years ago) link

It's the summer of the nectarine. I just made dessert with peaches tonight though.

― rrrobyn, Friday, 31 August 2007 02:13 (sixteen years ago) link
This is drupe season, for sure. To not eat drupes is to be a big poop.
― Beth Parker, Friday, 31 August 2007 03:50 (sixteen years ago) link
To the person who invented white peaches - WTF? Did you consciously set out to develop a peach-like object with absolutely no peach flavor? Yes, a good peach is sweet, but it is also PEACHY ffs.

These red plums feel like they're radiating some kind of inner light. Oh lord, why do they come but once a year?
