From what I've heard, a regular CD release will be in stores sometime in '08.

It's pretty cool they're doing all this without a label too. More established bands should handle their own business without a label.

I have not been excited about Radiohead in quite a few years -- Kid A was released October 3, 2000, which makes it officially seven years since I cared. But I have to love this marketing ploy. Brilliant.
― kenan, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:05 (sixteen years ago) link
Yeah, now that they don't need the marketing, this is exactly what they should be doing. I wonder if they paid for their studio time out of pocket?
Their last three records are my favorite.

I haven't really been excited by the last few Radiohead albums, but I think it has more to do with me than with them. I still really respect them a lot.
― n/a, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:10 (sixteen years ago) link
Though each album has at least one or two really exciting songs on it.
― n/a, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:11 (sixteen years ago) link
Now I want to listen to the last couple so I can reassess them. I don't even remember which songs are on which. Not on my ipod so I guess I'm waiting until I get home.
I accidentally wiped my iPod this morning when I plugged it into my work computer. All the newest stuff is gone, and all the stuff on my work machine is all I have for the day.
Sigh. Life will continue.

"National Anthem" and "Idioteque" were the jaaaaam on Kid A.
xp lol
― dan m, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:18 (sixteen years ago) link
that lady-bowl haircut was insanely popular and totally unflattering http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/aplus/90210-melrose/melroseplace_4_lg.jpg http://www.movieactors.com/freezeframes22/ghost42.jpeg
― La Lechera, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:20 (sixteen years ago) link
Yeah, Idioteque is definitely one of their best songs. Is National Anthem the one with the horn section? I like the one with the horn section.

How long till Jeff shows up and shits on Radiohead?
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:20 (sixteen years ago) link
Radiohead is perfect, perfect reading, working, and train music.
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:21 (sixteen years ago) link
Esp the last 3 albums.
Everything in its Right Place is my favorite Kid A track.
― Jordan, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:21 (sixteen years ago) link
I liked the Thom Yorke album last year... liked it a good bit.
― kenan, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:23 (sixteen years ago) link
I like "I Could Be Wrong," especially the midsong breakdown and what follows.
― n/a, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:24 (sixteen years ago) link
Yeah, there a couple tracks on the TY album that I love.
Thx Nick, I made my 0 pound purchase.
― Jordan, Monday, 1 October 2007 16:30 (sixteen years ago) link
wow. Radiohead's site is dragging.
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:15 (sixteen years ago) link
I'm waiting for it to show up on oink. (As per usual.)
― kenan, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:17 (sixteen years ago) link
UH
― river wolf, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:18 (sixteen years ago) link
Kenan, please don't suck. Go and buy it from their website for SOME MONEY AT LEAST.
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:19 (sixteen years ago) link
I'll buy the CD version when it comes out, and that deluxe vinyl sounds pretty awesome. I'll give them my money, don't worry.
― kenan, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:21 (sixteen years ago) link
OK. I just think it would be really jerky to violate the honor system (of sorts).
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:22 (sixteen years ago) link
No, I agree! They're going out on a limb here, and I like that.
― kenan, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:24 (sixteen years ago) link
just pay $1.
i mean, it seems silly to get stuff on OINK when you can get the real juice from the source, and for pennies.
― river wolf, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:26 (sixteen years ago) link
And it would be cool to give them the traffic.
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:32 (sixteen years ago) link
It's just that Kenan, you're wrong, and I want you to know that!
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:33 (sixteen years ago) link
Not the first time, won't be the last.
― kenan, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:35 (sixteen years ago) link
I"m just joshing you. We had this interaction once before.
― Jesse, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:39 (sixteen years ago) link
I wonder if there will be a way to get the b-sides/bonus tracks officially without buying the $80 box. Probably not (for a few years anyway).
― Jordan, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:41 (sixteen years ago) link
Also, I love ten track albums!
― Jordan, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:42 (sixteen years ago) link
I feel like the lady bowl haircut, as rocked by Demi Moore and that blonde chick from Melrose Place above, was all about declaring, "I am so beautiful that even this heinous haircut can't make me unattractive." sort of like those awful shapeless dresses that were trendy all summer.
― horseshoe, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:48 (sixteen years ago) link
oh that's not the blonde lady from Melrose Place. it's Chyna Phillips. same diff, though.
― horseshoe, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:49 (sixteen years ago) link
oh, but you were right the first time! it's both of them! truly heinous haircut
this girl in my hs class got that haircut and WOW was it bad. it was trying to be sort of pixie-ish but they got it all wrong and it was 100% bowl. she was not happy.
― La Lechera, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:53 (sixteen years ago) link
i think it's made extra bad by the fact that the back was so short. if the back had been just a little longer it might have achieved a shaggy cuteness...maybe. but the back was extremely shorn and the front was wall-of-bangs. yuk.
― La Lechera, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:54 (sixteen years ago) link
has anyone ever seen that blonde lady from Melrose Place and Chyna Phillips in the same place at the same time?
― horseshoe, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:54 (sixteen years ago) link
i am no one to talk, tho -- i had an a-sym.
hahaha no...but they might have been in a lifetime movie together as twinz
― La Lechera, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:55 (sixteen years ago) link
my mom cut my bangs in middle school. it was traumatic. also, bangs are not for me.
― horseshoe, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:56 (sixteen years ago) link
it's only appropriate that the 90s came in with a haircut that was just 100% bangs -- they got rid of everything else that went along with big hair and focused on the one thing that mattered: BANGS.
― La Lechera, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:57 (sixteen years ago) link
"Hold On" is in my head now.
xpost omg that's totally correct, Amanda!
― horseshoe, Monday, 1 October 2007 17:58 (sixteen years ago) link
i am sorry about the song. i do not take responsibility for that. break free from the chains.
― La Lechera, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link
That 90s thread mystifies me.
― dan m, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:04 (sixteen years ago) link
oh, it's okay; I like "Hold On."
― horseshoe, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:05 (sixteen years ago) link
it's not really how i remember the 90s, but i went from being 15 to 25 during the 90s, so that was a lot of ground covered.
― La Lechera, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:05 (sixteen years ago) link
remember Carnie Wilson all in, like, a trenchcoat on the beach in that video. ;_;
The breakdown in that song would be hilarious if it was re-imagined as a straight-edge hardcore anthem.
― dan m, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link
Actually, the whole song would!
