first episode is good; #2 and #3 are so, so funny (abbi's physical comedy in the dentist's office and rachel dratch's cameo are big highlights) and from those episodes onward this became basically my favourite show.

i've been aggressively recommending it to friends and they've all loved it too.

Yeah this show's great. It took me a few eps to get into but they are both pretty funny and rad.

I think the fact that they are great is key. Even when an ep is sort of eh the pair of them are always great. Plus Hannibal.

maybe I'll give Broad City another chance. some of the clips were funny. i am pretty tired of shows abt young, temporarily poor ladies working in the culture industries in NYC, but who knows.

This show isn't about what they do for a living. I mean... I don't think of Laurel and Hardy as a story about piano movers.

Abbi's artistic aspirations are pretty quickly exposed as delusional. her art is m/l objectively awful iirc. it's just another joke they're playing with.

i totally get not wanting to watch another show about directionless twentysomethings in nyc (whether or not their in the "culture industry" is a pretty pedantic quibble), but anyone old enough to be tired of that trope is also old enough to know that when a show increases in popularity over a season, it's foolish to judge its worth off the pilot

that said my bar for "tv worth buying the episode" would be crazy high, not sure any show would pass

personally thought that show got a lot better over the season, Samberg and Peretti's characters got a lot less shrill

not saying one has some moral obligation to stick with a show after hating an episode, just that if a show becomes more acclaimed with time, it's pretty possible the pilot is nowhere near the best ep

Broad City is a very good show but I don't think it really demands onion A/V club "well the first episode is a C but THEN the season gets totally B+" convos.

But Stapp later came into the Harbor Court Hotel bar while Sexton and bandmates SA Martinez and P-Nut were watching Broad City on television. He stepped in front of the screen and said, "311, I am ready to fight about Brooklyn 9-9," according to Sexton.

whiney, we talked about this at therapy. "Av club" is a red flag word.
