ok - had a nerve wracking phone call this am. guy calls my cell#. says his name is Carlos Rosa and "your brother was in an accident and is hurt real bad-he gave me this number for help. tell me your brother's name and then i give you all the details." well that was weird- I say - " No You Tell me his name. I want to speak with him" and the guy just won't. i say "i'm gonna call you back." i call my brother's work, cell and email. no response. then call his wife (at her moms.) i call Carlos Rosa back - no voicemail. he calls me back - this time I'm like " TELL ME HIS NAME. " NOW he tells me. "listen, i tell you what happened. your brother crashed my brother's brand new bmw at the gas station. he refuse to give the papers and pay, my brother shoot him and brought him here to my house. we got him hostage,my brother going to kill him unless you go to the bank and send the money, you want him to kill your brother? ..." my sister in law calls mid threat. i hang up on the guy and she tells me brother's at work. guy calls me back. i don't answer. i call 911 - " look - maybe they call the wrong number - maybe its a threat for extortion - maybe there is a guy being held with a gun to his head. i don't know. all i have is what i've told you, the guys " name" and this cell number. 917-8XX-3976." I encourage everyone to call it. and don't forget to block your ID.
