That's Alex himself!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:30 (twenty years ago) link

he's getting really skinny. There is NO ASS in that photo.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:54 (twenty years ago) link

And the photo is the poorer for it, in my opinion.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:54 (twenty years ago) link

No lie, I've totally lost about five pounds since the arrival of the little one. Five pounds of ass, inevitably.

Teenage Chicano Skaters who Honor the Fire? Who'da thunkit?

Good bad name, that.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:08 (twenty years ago) link

baNd...

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:09 (twenty years ago) link

A sleeveless Venom shirt. Sir, I salute you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 19:09 (twenty years ago) link

Wow. babies really are incredibly small people.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 19:47 (twenty years ago) link

When was that taken then?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 19:48 (twenty years ago) link

Judging by the decor, probably 1948.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 19:49 (twenty years ago) link

I guess I'd kind of like to have a baby, but it would have to like sleeping on our air mattress.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 19:50 (twenty years ago) link

Though I guess it could have the sofa, as long as it didn't sweat too much. Our sofa is faux-leather.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 19:51 (twenty years ago) link

I love this thread. Love it.

My big brother became a father for the first time yesterday. I'm kind of missing it all as he is in the US, so having someone else's baby photos and first-time daddy-ness is helping a lot.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 20:33 (twenty years ago) link

Charlotte likes things!

Leeefuse 73 (Leee), Sunday, 23 May 2004 23:01 (twenty years ago) link

It looks like she wants daddy's Budweiser!

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 24 May 2004 02:59 (twenty years ago) link

Charlotte the happy drunk! Or not.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 24 May 2004 14:58 (twenty years ago) link

Actually, if you look closer, you'll see I was drinkin' Corona, not Bud.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 24 May 2004 15:04 (twenty years ago) link

"Charlotte the happy drunk! Or not. "

Maybe that explains this picture:

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 24 May 2004 23:13 (twenty years ago) link

oh well, the picture was the one from upthread of charlotte adorably passed out on the bed.

"Actually, if you look closer, you'll see I was drinkin' Corona, not Bud."

oops, my bad!

Pic o' the day....

What could that little pocket on her cardy honestly be for? Very small car keys?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 28 May 2004 03:02 (twenty years ago) link

The Ice Bat came from Kid Robot on Prince Street.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 28 May 2004 03:12 (twenty years ago) link

dude your kid is way cute

amateur!st (amateurist), Friday, 28 May 2004 03:55 (twenty years ago) link

The first pic looks like the morning after a hard night of HONOURING THE FIRE.

Leee's a Simpson (Leee), Friday, 28 May 2004 04:41 (twenty years ago) link

is it safe to honour the fire at that age¿

dyson (dyson), Friday, 28 May 2004 04:50 (twenty years ago) link

There's no logical reason for the inclusion of this picture, but I took it at about 7:15 am on my way to the office (notice nearly deserted streets) on Sunday morning and think it looks jolly nice. Hooray for NYC.

Very nice it does look! I spent part of the weekend around my cousin's babies/young kids, and while they're older than Charlotte (one only by three months), they gave me a sense of the controlled chaos wee ones can bring to one's life. ;-)

This thread makes me immensely happy. It's just great.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 31 May 2004 22:59 (twenty years ago) link

This weekend I participated in the baptism of my brother's nine-month-old triplets, including my godson William, amd lemme tell ya, I got overwhelmed by baby-love big-time. This has never happened to me before, as typically I don't like being in the company of small children and resent mass-media baby fetishism, but yesterday I just wanted to hold William and play with him all day.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Monday, 31 May 2004 23:06 (twenty years ago) link

Charlotte has reached my favorite baby age. Sooo cute!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 31 May 2004 23:15 (twenty years ago) link

Just discovered this thread -- congrats to all three of you.

She's so adorable, I love this thread.

More pictures please?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 19:45 (twenty years ago) link

pretty cute, Alex!

I must say I'm having a bit of trouble reconciling the doting father with the guy I remember with both middle fingers raised in the midst of a crowded concert floor, evidently saying hello in his unique way to his friend across the floor...

great show, though, Tricky just after Maxinquaye opening for PJ Harvey after To Bring You My Love. Black Steel In the Hour of Chaos, baby, the guitarist sounded like Eddie Hazell that night...

She gets more beautiful with every picture...

That was sorta the way Alex appeared on the board -- in wrath and flame.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 June 2004 20:07 (twenty years ago) link

Wow, Jon Abbey! Who'da thunk it. We moved offices this week, Jon....24th floor no more (or at least for another year while they re-model). They've squeezed everyone onto 27, and no one is pleased.

More pics.....

This is a truly unfortunate shot, but it amply shows who she gets her hair from...

WHAT'S KERMIT DOING OMG

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 02:23 (twenty years ago) link

he's just embarrassed is all.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 9 June 2004 02:36 (twenty years ago) link

I hardly ever read ILE, but happened to pop over while watching the Pistons (hopefully) beat the Lakers and this thread happened to be at the top. Skimming through it in order without knowing anything about the situation is as harrowing and dramatic as any work of fiction, with some kind of gangbusters happy ending.

It also just so happens that today is the day I heard the heartbeat of my first (due in January) for the first time, at my wife's second doctor's appointment. So I consider this coincidence a good omen.

Congratulations Alex -- Charlotte is beautiful.
