Early start for breakfast, then Animal Kingdom, the best designed park.

Third language of Fantasmic announcement last night was Portuguese. I wonder if they can tell that is the third most popular language that particular day?

Everest currently broken!
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 14:56 (nine years ago) link
That's a bummer. My favorite ride in all of the parks, hands down. It was down for a while when we were there, too, so maybe things will turn around.
― Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 15:03 (nine years ago) link
they have been pretty good getting them up and running again.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 15:04 (nine years ago) link
Still down. I smartly sat out Kali rapids, and am only dry one.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 15:30 (nine years ago) link
good move. Make sure to hit the dinosaur dark ride, probably my fav extant dark ride from the last time i was there…which was ages ago

"Back in my day, we rode dinosaurs in the dark at amusement parks. That was ages ago."
― pplains, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 16:34 (nine years ago) link
Yeah, Dinosaur is rad. That pseudo-coaster technology they use is amazing and should be more widespread (I think the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland is similar?).
― Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 16:59 (nine years ago) link
My older one chickened out at Everest, but the 7 year old was totally game.
They both hated Dinosaur.

Philistines!
― Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 17:46 (nine years ago) link
The Primeval Whirl is fun, too, if not exactly the type of ride you go to WDW for.
― Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 17:47 (nine years ago) link
Has anyone on here used the My Disney Experience app? this was super handy when we were in WDW in the spring. It allows you to track attraction wait times and manage your fast passes all from your phone.
― Free Me's Electric Trumpet (Moodles), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 18:15 (nine years ago) link
We tried but the app was way too huge for my old-ass phone.
― Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 18:26 (nine years ago) link
We are using the hell out of the app plusWDW Lines.

My wife is such a pro at planning.
Just learned they are building an Avatar Land here, how dumb.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 20:28 (nine years ago) link
Josh are you guys gonna swing by Universal Orlando for Harry Potter land?
― Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link
Harry Potter ride at Islands of Adventure is sick, spider man ride is pretty amazing too
― Free Me's Electric Trumpet (Moodles), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 20:34 (nine years ago) link
We didn't hit Universal this year because it was my girlfriend's first WDW trip since she was a kid but next time for sure. That Harry Potter ride is supposed to be the best thing in the Orlando area so I'm pretty psyched.
― Thereby Creating Humor (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 4 November 2014 20:37 (nine years ago) link
Don't want to pay full park price for just Harry Potter.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 20:49 (nine years ago) link
Other rides too intense for my kids, generally.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 4 November 2014 20:50 (nine years ago) link
have they started construction on avatar land yet? i keep hoping that they'll wake up one day and be like "oh wait! this franchise is flash-in-the-pan nonsense!" and shutter the whole thing.

Fun thread. WiFi no trouble, Josh? I may live blog in December.

xpost Right? It seems so short-sighted. I could see making a ride, but a whole subsection of the park is just nuts.

Mr. Toad taps his webbed foot at your talk of flash-in-the-pan nonsense.

WiFi has been solid.
Boma at animal lodge remains a fave. Now fitting in some Epcot.

Epcot is great when it's not Food & Wine Festival. I've seen fiftysomethings yak in the bushes in front of Germany.
― guess that bundt gettin eaten (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 5 November 2014 01:48 (nine years ago) link
Food & Wine is awesome (Taylor Dayne last time I was there!). We were at Epcot for the Flower & Garden Festival this year, which (protip) was basically just Food & Wine with a vague gardening theme.

I was at Food & Garden and saw Paul Revere and the Raiders! (RIP)

I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders at Magic Mountain (LA area amusement park) back in the 70s! My first "name" act live concert.

They forgot to charge us for an expensive character meal, so we get a bonus buffet feast.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 5 November 2014 18:29 (nine years ago) link
don't knock the tiki room, it's a good place to rest for a bit and sing some goofy songs with singing birds and plants. Make sure to get a pineapple whip while you are there.
― Free Me's Electric Trumpet (Moodles), Wednesday, 5 November 2014 21:23 (nine years ago) link
the Tiki Room at Disneyland is easily in my top 5 park attractions

xpost And I think they finally got rid of Zazu and Iago, which is another major point currently in its favor.
― Walking Feenicks (Old Lunch), Wednesday, 5 November 2014 21:30 (nine years ago) link
I hate pineapple whip.
Back to Epcot in a bit for my daughter's 10th. We have so many leftover food credits I fear for my health.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 5 November 2014 21:50 (nine years ago) link

Yes, Zazu and Iago and the whole re-vamped tiki room was a travesty and I'm glad they fixed this at WDW

?? none of that shit at the Disneyland one, which has remained unchanged since time immemorial afaik
― Οὖτις, Wednesday, 5 November 2014 21:57 (nine years ago) link
Aerosmith and Everest and Dwarves all awesome additions, BTW. Epcot still sort of worthless, though they do update exhibits pretty often to keep them more timely.
