BumberFAP?

The Reverend, Tuesday, 28 August 2007 15:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Let's get drunk and go to Stella.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Tuesday, 28 August 2007 23:26 (seventeen years ago) link

That is perfectly acceptable.

Morley Timmons, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 04:13 (seventeen years ago) link

Saturday? They're @ 7:30 all three days

the higgs, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 04:19 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm all in favor of getting drunk, but I'm not planning on Bumbering and I don't know from Stella. Would certainly enjoy seeing y'all outside of the Center, though. Two Bells is always good for a break from the madness.

lxy, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 04:28 (seventeen years ago) link

Bumber should have an FAP, after all, they ain't got no headliners this year.

Bimble, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 04:29 (seventeen years ago) link

That is patently false. The Wu-Tang clan > any other headliner they could come up with except for Prince and maybe Daft Punk. (Did you see them, Bimble?)

Anyway, Saturday works just fine by me. A word of warning, though: to get into the comedy stages, you must wait in line for hours beforehand. My attempts to get into the Trapped in the Closet panel were in vain all three days last year.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 14:59 (seventeen years ago) link

(hours that could be spent getting drunk, you know)

The Reverend, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 15:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyone have suggestion for a Indian grocery somewhere in metro Seattle? All other Asian foodstuffs are covered, but I figure there's got a big Indian grocer somewhere.

Also, any good Filipino restaurants? I've never eaten at one and Seattle apparently has a pretty big Filipino population, right?

joygoat, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 17:39 (seventeen years ago) link

There's a point-point place on Beacon next to El Quetzal, something Kitchen. The best Indian grocer is supposedly over on the eastside by Crossroads Mall, haven't been there but several friends swear by it. I'll get the name from them.

Jaq, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:13 (seventeen years ago) link

i knew jaq would have this in hand :)

jergïns, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Okay, the Philipino place is Kusina Filipina, 3201 Beacon Avenue S. (El Quetzal, next door, is also really good for atypical mexican fare - I think it might be the only place in Seattle that does huaraches.) And the indian grocery is Apna Bazaar, 2245 148th Ave NE in Bellevue.

hahaha jergins!!! :D

Jaq, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 20:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Hey, big favor: is there anyone closer to the festivities who could possibly accommodate me Sat. night? If not, it's not a huge deal, just a convenience thing.

The Reverend, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Rev, are you allergic to cats? If you don't mind being way the hell south (at the end of the 48 bus route, basically - Rainier Beach area), you're welcome to stop with us.

Jaq, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Hullo, SeattILX!

Laurel, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:09 (seventeen years ago) link

:D

Jaq, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:11 (seventeen years ago) link

No problem with cats. And you are less way the hell south than I am way the hell north, so good enough for me. Thanks for the hospitality. Would you please send me an email with all the specifics, like address and phone and such? Will you be Bumbering at all?

xp: Hullo, Laurel!

The Reverend, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:15 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't think I've thanked you guys properly for feeding and entertaining me? THANK YOU. You are all treats, all.

Laurel, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Laurel, I always thought that where ever you were would be a party, and now I have proof :)

Rev, we'll be there all 3 days, staying to the end on Sat for Gogol Bordello, and getting there early enough on Sun for Fergie wristbands and maybe to see The Trucks. check yr ILX mail for details shortly.

Jaq, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I didn't have computer access that week but I texted Jon at one point that SeattILX GAVE GOOD FAP and asked him to pass it on, but he prob didn't, unless you are noise bored readers...so I thought I would pop over and say so.

Laurel, Friday, 31 August 2007 15:48 (seventeen years ago) link

SeattILX FAPs like a rockstar.

Jaq: Alright, I'll meet you there tomorrow. : D

The Reverend, Friday, 31 August 2007 16:17 (seventeen years ago) link

hey, thankx laurel. it was great to have you over. hope you come back!

jergïns, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:36 (seventeen years ago) link

FAP on Saturday at 4? 4.30?

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 1 September 2007 00:48 (seventeen years ago) link

We want to see the Saturday Knights - they're over at 5, would that work? The only other thing we're definite about seeing Saturday night is Gogol Bordello, and they don't start until 9. Where to FAP?

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 01:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Someone above said Two Bells. There's also the McMenamin's nearby.

Jaq, Jill wanted your e-mail address. Could you send it to me?

Got it, thanks.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 1 September 2007 02:14 (seventeen years ago) link

4/4:30/5 works for me. Only thing I'm steadfast on is Rodrigo y Gabriela, but I may be dissuaded if someone can convince me Gogol Bordello is more worth seeing. I think I'm gonna get a wristband for Panic! at the Disco, just to see an emo cry when he can't get in. Actually, I like them. I might check them out.

Senor Rickey, would you email me your phone number?

The Reverend, Saturday, 1 September 2007 02:50 (seventeen years ago) link

So around 4:30/5. Apparently need to leave time to stand (tipsily) in line for Stella. Two Bells or the McMenamin's on Roy or?

the higgs, Saturday, 1 September 2007 03:19 (seventeen years ago) link

who is stella?

jergïns, Saturday, 1 September 2007 03:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I have been wondering this, too. Where is 2 Bells?

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 04:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Just not that faux-scottish place, it is annoying.

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 04:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Also, HELLO! I am practicing w/ the gin tonight.

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 04:09 (seventeen years ago) link

Hmmm...this puts a bump in the rug

*We regret to announce Stella will not perform at Bumbershoot 2007 as previously listed; Michael Ian Black will perform instead with Special Guests.

the higgs, Saturday, 1 September 2007 05:13 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, I noticed that on the schedule. He's a third of Stella.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 1 September 2007 06:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Bumbershoot really doesn't interest me this year, I'm afraid. Not that that really disappoints me cause I've had plenty of good fun the past three years there. The only thing that might push me to go is seeing Roky Erikson but that really doesn't make me want to pay the full price to get in, either. Of course it's possible that by Monday I'll change my mind.

I still don't understand where this FAP is supposed to be. There's plenty of stuff at 2nd and Bell isn't there? Or are we talking about this place called Two Bells at 2313 Fourth Ave?

Bimble, Saturday, 1 September 2007 08:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Okay, 2 Bells @ 5 unless changes are made prior, in which case txt plz kthxbye!

I'm considering wearing my lavender crocs w/smartwool sox - if you are going to hate on me, plz be creative about it :D

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 16:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Hey Seattle people, we have a bunch of stuff to get rid of. If you want any of the following, drop me a note:

3 CD shelves (IKEA - blue and cream, hold approx. 75 CDs each. 4' high x 1' wide x 8" deep)
upright vacuum cleaner (w/ cyclonic action! bagless, works fine)
2 tables that make great desks (approx. 3'x 5')
Sony Vaio desktop PC w/ 17" flatpanel
3 short bookshelves (cheap, from Target)

Jaq, Saturday, 15 September 2007 13:15 (seventeen years ago) link

jaq,

so excited for you!

seattlites,

this sounds awesome:

motel #1

The Bridge Motel (3650 Bridge Way N, off Aurora, in Fremont) will host a one-night only event to kick off the MOTEL series on 15 September 2007, 5 PM - midnight. Built in 1952 by a retired policeman, the motel has anchored the north end of the infamous Aurora Bridge for decades in welcoming glory. Originally a place frequented by tourists and traveling salesmen, the Bridge Motel has over time become more a place for those living from paycheck to paycheck, and whose lives involve drug use, prostitution, and the like. In the popular imagination, the place embodies and realizes that underbelly, shady side of life's toiling. There has been murders here, and numerous drug busts, its decaying artifice contains the stories of a full lifetime of drama, and the day by day passing through of souls... For one night, its last night of existence, the Bridge Motel will be dressed up and called to shine and dance ... Numerous installation/performance artists have been given full rein the week prior, to transform each dilapidated pocket into whatever they could imagine. The opening evening will reveal the Bridge's final blossom before its inevitable razing. And to top it off, every inch of the motel will be crawling with performance artists, injecting the animation and energy of truly ephemeral art. The stellar roster of artists involved is sure to create a cacophony of sights and sounds to inspire the mind and heart, and give the aging motel a proper dress-up before it's demise ... This night is not to be missed.

gah, we are so wiped out from packing/sorting/cleaning.

There is also one of those rolling tilting bookstand/laptop desks up for grabs. The computer has been earmarked.
