I have no objection to warren being president, but this doesn't change the fact that, without any leverage over congress, she'd be a reduced to a placeholder. just being president doesn't ensure you can accomplish much, unless you can command enough votes in congress.

re: chart. what amuses me most is the scale of 0 - 100. if Christie rates a zero on that scale on any category, it lacks a certain granularity at the low end.

only way progressives can have sway over candidates is to pump money into causes and energy into legislators' call centers.

Ron Paul sponsored a legalization bill in the House (along w Barney Frank). then when he ran for President he said legalization should be up to the states. fancy that.

Ted Cruz strikes me as the type of politician whose following is mainly people who aren't stupid, but who hated school and struggled with it, who are basically ignorant about anything beyond their own experiences. They are both insecure and extremely resentful about that. They love Ted Cruz because he has all sorts of really-smart-person credentials and he thinks just like they do so his existence is hugely validating for them. You can travel pretty far on that ticket, but not to a presidency.
