bbbbut who is going to be the co-star in this Infotainment Scam?

there are so many things about this story I am not understanding, particularly related to State and White House IT policies and their administration ... did Hill just say, "No worries, I'll stick with Hotmail" and everyone else nodded?

honestly I think this is exactly what happened

but yeah emails on personal devices is a nightmare for dealing with lawsuits, document preservation, etc. it blows up the scope of the universe of discoverable documents almost exponentially.

@bartongellman · 7h
I don’t care who the Clintons hired: it is not possible for a high value target to secure a home-managed email server. Except from FOIA.

@ggreenwald · 9h
Clinton's practice of keeping personal emails meant they were kept out of FOIA searches: how is that remotely OK?

Watching MSNBC on the Hillary/email stuff is remarkable, even if you go in knowing what to expect.

i'm surprised any government anything happens over any kind of email whatsoever.

akm, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 21:57 (nine years ago) link

Today's NYT story is better, and, yes, it's better b/c it focuses on HRC's ignoring of FOIA requests.

I saw a bit of Ed Schulz yesterday when I got home yesterday and he was shameless. Chris Hayes, as usual, was better.

the few times i've watched that channel (mostly when my partner's dad has it on and i'm visiting) it's grotesque

I could not care less if Hillary hid some e-mails tbh (I'm sure all the lost ones reference her murder of Vince Foster), this seems like tempest-in-a-teapot stuff (or, more likely, a test run to see how Hilldog handles a SCANDAL)

you asked, akm:

Carson argued in a Wednesday CNN interview that people who come out as gay while in prison prove many them weren't born that way.

"Absolutely," Carson said when asked whether he thought homosexuality was a choice. "Because a lot of people who go into prison, go into prison straight straight. And when they come out, they're gay. So did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question."

this seems like tempest-in-a-teapot stuff

it's really shitty, frankly, and just adds to the many reasons she shouldn't be a serious contender for public office. but what else is new right?

I dunno. (amateurist), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 22:37 (nine years ago) link

compared to her actual policy positions, conflicts of interest, etc. this is v v small potatoes

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 22:39 (nine years ago) link

I can tell we are all going to be excited straight Dem-ticket voters come election day...

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 22:39 (nine years ago) link

Ed Schulz started off in right wing radio, so he still operates with that skill set. In short, he's fucking gross.

yeah, sure, that's what i meant -- it's not the worst thing she's done, but it adds to the already-long list of reasons why she's unfit for public office.

it's getting to be kind of weird how every presidential election cycle the GOP gets yet another token crazy black man in the running

Οὖτις, Thursday, 5 March 2015 23:57 (nine years ago) link

a perfect projection of how they see obama

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 March 2015 23:59 (nine years ago) link

or Chisholm or Jackson or Sharpton

Οὖτις, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:00 (nine years ago) link

i think its just obama because part of it is imitating his success they think you can just throw any black guy out there and he will win because of affirmative action and reverse racism, whereas they have no reason to aspire toward sharptonhood

lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:03 (nine years ago) link

it started before Obama though

and oddly all of these guys have been totally unqualified nobodies who have never held elected office, which was not the case with Obama (Sharpton and Jackson obviously way less qualified than Obama, tbf)

Edward Brooke was supposedly touted as a Republican VP possibility in '72 and '76--I'm sure not very seriously.

clemenza, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:42 (nine years ago) link

I don't think they pick crazy black guys to mock them, I think they pick crazy black guys because they desperately want to appear like the republican party can appeal to non-white people but you basically can't find a non-crazy black republican in 2015

iatee, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:55 (nine years ago) link

Wow--had no idea was still alive. (Until he was dead, that is.) I knew about the affair with Walters...was it discussed in one of the Perlstein books? Anyway, when I said not very seriously, I meant in terms of the party; Brooke himself was a serious person, and not at all like Cain and the rest. (I mean, Cain is a serious business person, he just wasn't a serious candidate.)

clemenza, Friday, 6 March 2015 01:17 (nine years ago) link

Weird how Alan Keyes is likely the only guy who's ever debated Bush, McCain and Obama.
