Stop the Inevitable Restoration By Any Means Necessary

you asked, akm:
Carson argued in a Wednesday CNN interview that people who come out as gay while in prison prove many them weren't born that way.
"Absolutely," Carson said when asked whether he thought homosexuality was a choice. "Because a lot of people who go into prison, go into prison straight straight. And when they come out, they're gay. So did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question."

this seems like tempest-in-a-teapot stuff
it's really shitty, frankly, and just adds to the many reasons she shouldn't be a serious contender for public office. but what else is new right?

I can tell we are all going to be excited straight Dem-ticket voters come election day...
Ed Schulz started off in right wing radio, so he still operates with that skill set. In short, he's fucking gross.

yeah, sure, that's what i meant -- it's not the worst thing she's done, but it adds to the already-long list of reasons why she's unfit for public office.

i think its just obama because part of it is imitating his success they think you can just throw any black guy out there and he will win because of affirmative action and reverse racism, whereas they have no reason to aspire toward sharptonhood
― lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:03 (nine years ago) link
it started before Obama though
and oddly all of these guys have been totally unqualified nobodies who have never held elected office, which was not the case with Obama (Sharpton and Jackson obviously way less qualified than Obama, tbf)

Edward Brooke was supposedly touted as a Republican VP possibility in '72 and '76--I'm sure not very seriously.
― clemenza, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:42 (nine years ago) link
I don't think they pick crazy black guys to mock them, I think they pick crazy black guys because they desperately want to appear like the republican party can appeal to non-white people but you basically can't find a non-crazy black republican in 2015

Edward Brooke died recently. Complicated guy. Ask Barbara Walters.

Wow--had no idea was still alive. (Until he was dead, that is.) I knew about the affair with Walters...was it discussed in one of the Perlstein books? Anyway, when I said not very seriously, I meant in terms of the party; Brooke himself was a serious person, and not at all like Cain and the rest. (I mean, Cain is a serious business person, he just wasn't a serious candidate.)

^^^ always blows my mind that ppl who recognize the inherent politics in all areas of life somehow think international law is some kind of platonic ideal that is immune

the employment of /war criminal/ is a particular fav of mine, like i understand that it sounds cool, but its kinda iffy imo to consider breaking the rules of war the bad thing when war itself involves the purposeful killing of people and is bad

This is apart from Hillary (which I'm just catching up with), sort of; one of the things that got me onto Obama in 2008 was an extreme antipathy for her handlers and explainers. Lanny Davis was, and is, the worst of all.

“Voters do not give a shit. They do not even give a fart,” said longtime Clinton ally and Democratic strategist Paul Begala, echoing the sentiments of most Clinton allies who believe the all-but-certain nominee is enough of a defined quantity in voters’ eyes that Republican attacks on her email policies cannot sway them — especially not over a year-and-a-half before she faces a competitive vote.
“Find me one persuadable voter who agrees with HRC on the issues but will vote against her because she has a non-archival-compliant email system and I’ll kiss your ass in Macy’s window and say it smells like roses,” he said.
