I can tell we are all going to be excited straight Dem-ticket voters come election day...

Ed Schulz started off in right wing radio, so he still operates with that skill set. In short, he's fucking gross.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 22:41 (nine years ago) link

compared to her actual policy positions, conflicts of interest, etc. this is v v small potatoes

yeah, sure, that's what i meant -- it's not the worst thing she's done, but it adds to the already-long list of reasons why she's unfit for public office.

I dunno. (amateurist), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 22:47 (nine years ago) link

I'm hoping the Martin O'Malley candidacy gets off the ground so I can make some hilarious Barnaby references.

it's getting to be kind of weird how every presidential election cycle the GOP gets yet another token crazy black man in the running

Οὖτις, Thursday, 5 March 2015 23:57 (nine years ago) link

a perfect projection of how they see obama

lag∞n, Thursday, 5 March 2015 23:59 (nine years ago) link

or Chisholm or Jackson or Sharpton

Οὖτις, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:00 (nine years ago) link

i think its just obama because part of it is imitating his success they think you can just throw any black guy out there and he will win because of affirmative action and reverse racism, whereas they have no reason to aspire toward sharptonhood

lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:03 (nine years ago) link

it started before Obama though

and oddly all of these guys have been totally unqualified nobodies who have never held elected office, which was not the case with Obama (Sharpton and Jackson obviously way less qualified than Obama, tbf)

Edward Brooke was supposedly touted as a Republican VP possibility in '72 and '76--I'm sure not very seriously.

clemenza, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:42 (nine years ago) link

I don't think they pick crazy black guys to mock them, I think they pick crazy black guys because they desperately want to appear like the republican party can appeal to non-white people but you basically can't find a non-crazy black republican in 2015

iatee, Friday, 6 March 2015 00:55 (nine years ago) link

Wow--had no idea was still alive. (Until he was dead, that is.) I knew about the affair with Walters...was it discussed in one of the Perlstein books? Anyway, when I said not very seriously, I meant in terms of the party; Brooke himself was a serious person, and not at all like Cain and the rest. (I mean, Cain is a serious business person, he just wasn't a serious candidate.)

clemenza, Friday, 6 March 2015 01:17 (nine years ago) link

Weird how Alan Keyes is likely the only guy who's ever debated Bush, McCain and Obama.

pplains, Friday, 6 March 2015 01:41 (nine years ago) link

nah pretty sure Osama bin Laden tested him before sending him to destroy America

we're in Fantasyland anyway, our shit doesn't stink and international law does not exist.

touch of a love-starved cobra (Dr Morbius), Friday, 6 March 2015 11:41 (nine years ago) link

You need to get better fantasies.

pplains, Friday, 6 March 2015 15:32 (nine years ago) link

its true that international laws dont exist, i mean laws generally are not real existent things, they havent built a prison yet that can hold me

lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 15:38 (nine years ago) link

^^^ always blows my mind that ppl who recognize the inherent politics in all areas of life somehow think international law is some kind of platonic ideal that is immune

Mordy, Friday, 6 March 2015 15:52 (nine years ago) link

the employment of /war criminal/ is a particular fav of mine, like i understand that it sounds cool, but its kinda iffy imo to consider breaking the rules of war the bad thing when war itself involves the purposeful killing of people and is bad

lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 15:57 (nine years ago) link

/war monger/ is much more damning imho i wld go with /war monger/ in the future pro tip

lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 15:59 (nine years ago) link

I'm replacing POTUS with "most powerful head of the Five Families" if that's alright

touch of a love-starved cobra (Dr Morbius), Friday, 6 March 2015 16:07 (nine years ago) link

uh no it's not alright 'US' is not an acronym for 'Five Families'

Mordy, Friday, 6 March 2015 16:09 (nine years ago) link

^

lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 16:11 (nine years ago) link

i'm fine with abandoning "war criminal" in favor of customizations like "Wall Street's executioner" or "Zionist terrorist."

touch of a love-starved cobra (Dr Morbius), Friday, 6 March 2015 16:13 (nine years ago) link

i appreciated your creativity in this realm morbs, walk with blessings

lag∞n, Friday, 6 March 2015 16:14 (nine years ago) link

This is apart from Hillary (which I'm just catching up with), sort of; one of the things that got me onto Obama in 2008 was an extreme antipathy for her handlers and explainers. Lanny Davis was, and is, the worst of all.

“Voters do not give a shit. They do not even give a fart,” said longtime Clinton ally and Democratic strategist Paul Begala, echoing the sentiments of most Clinton allies who believe the all-but-certain nominee is enough of a defined quantity in voters’ eyes that Republican attacks on her email policies cannot sway them — especially not over a year-and-a-half before she faces a competitive vote.

“Find me one persuadable voter who agrees with HRC on the issues but will vote against her because she has a non-archival-compliant email system and I’ll kiss your ass in Macy’s window and say it smells like roses,” he said.
