I cut my foot before and my shoe is filling up with blood.

I hadn't seen R&M in years and years but a week or two ago my friend and I watched it together cuddling in bed and it was just the fucking greatest.

Who's that?

Colleen Haskell, "America's Sweetheart" on the first season of US Survivor, when it became a phenomenon in the summer of 2000. I loved her. Then she was in The Animal with Rob Schneider and that was pretty much it.

She was so so great on Survivor. That first-season cast, generally unaware of reality-show fame possibilities and clearly just taken with the idea of "people from all walks of life will survive on an island" was super interesting to watch on TV. Colleen fit right into that; her charm was, I think, really genuine. It was really weird seeing her off-island and in-makeup.

i never could, or would. sigh. if only i'd seen promotional crap for this upcoming live-on-an-island show, and borrowed a camcorder and submitted an audition tape, and gotten on the show, we could have been magic. OTOH her and survivor Greg ("the coconut phone is my connection to the outside world") Buis were pretty well-matched so i don't begrudge her that.

The most unbreakably 90s aspect has to be that funky-typography Mad Libs shit going on in the background. In general, arty words flying around all over the place is very 90s - I'm thinking of the line running from Jeremey's "The serpent was subtil" up through the House of Leaves stuff in Poe's "Hey Pretty." The awesome shirts and haircuts seen in Delia's may return, but that stuff, even in the age of Lyrics Videos, seems totally hopeless.

That is exactly what I looked like in hs in terms of those shrunken stripey polo shirts, all the ball necklaces, and short hair. I think I just had some kind of PTSD flashback looking at those pictures.

At my office we just had a birthday party for April...with a 90s theme. I am wearing a band t-shirt over a thermal top. NOT pleasant to notice how tight the band shirt is now....
