Can't help but feel like her losing her position as states attorney so fast was a bit of a cop out

Interesting article. But yeah, although the exploration of failure is quite an interesting route to go, I'm not sure they found the most dramatically interesting way to go with that. great first half of the season, and the final two-three eps felt partway back on form, but the stretch inbetween felt really off its game. Still, I think the critic's cliche -- "even when it's bad, it's better than most other stuff" -- still applies, if only because most other stuff doesn't have Diane in it.
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 12 May 2015 07:20 (nine years ago) link
I seem to say interesting a lot.
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 12 May 2015 07:21 (nine years ago) link
wow, just looking up what else Archie Panjabi has been in on IMDB and apparently she did voiceovers for Postman Pat. whodathunkit?
JUst been watching this show through after seeing people talking about it 9n here. I think I'm about half way through this series.
& its been ok, but has had some super dumb things in like the Hugo Chavez thing, which might be series 2.
BUt Archie's pretty tasty anyway.

This show is on fire again.
Consistently my favorite drama on television. Im pretty picky though and don't watch any other drama on television.
― The Once-ler, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 02:08 (eight years ago) link
The latest ep was really good
― Spottie, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 02:13 (eight years ago) link
Unless im tripping, I remember Robert Wyatt mentioning that he likes to watch Good Wife. It's nice to know that my favorite musicians watch the same television shows as me. When Bill Waterson finally gave an interview decades after Calvin and Hobbes's last strip, I was like what are these bullshit questions? I dont care about your stance on commercialism. Tell me some family stories. Tell me what you watch on television. What are your interests nowadays? Nope. They wake Waterson from the dead to ask him some stupid shit.
― The Once-ler, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 02:33 (eight years ago) link
Although maybe I didnt read the full Watterson* interview and just a long snippet that the interviewing magazine was allowed to post online. Fuck you magazine for not giving me the juicy details up front! You expect me to rationally search out the full fledger when your clickbait doesnt deliver? No. Learn to interview better!
― The Once-ler, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 02:45 (eight years ago) link
The start of the new season completely flew past me, I've got some catching up to do!
― :wq (Leee), Tuesday, 20 October 2015 16:04 (eight years ago) link
Yeah, still seems to be good. Trying to think who Peter's chief of staff is. A lot of Machiavellian stuff going on with some characters.
Kalinda is almost not missed, but I guess she will be inevitably.
― Stevolende, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 16:30 (eight years ago) link
Yeah it will really depend on how these new characters develop. Her new PI has that perma-flirty face, he could be a good character/love interest. I like all the double/triple crossing stuff going on atm.
― Spottie, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 17:06 (eight years ago) link
No blonde investigator anymore? :(
― :wq (Leee), Tuesday, 20 October 2015 17:15 (eight years ago) link
that's what I was thinking. also cary #2 is out the window
― The Once-ler, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 17:17 (eight years ago) link
Yeah not sure what happened to her xp
― Spottie, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 17:21 (eight years ago) link
Vengeful pee-wee herman Eli is pretty fun to watch.
― Spottie, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 17:23 (eight years ago) link
yeah Jess Weixler disappearing was really weird
really don't care about the Eli plot this season
― the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Tuesday, 20 October 2015 17:39 (eight years ago) link
Trying to think who Peter's chief of staff is. >Couldn't quite place her earlier, she was the contact or department head in the Americans last time i saw her before this series
― Stevolende, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 21:03 (eight years ago) link
She's Margo Martindale. Recently she was in the Americans and also Justified.
― trishyb, Tuesday, 20 October 2015 21:10 (eight years ago) link
but most notably as herself, Character Actress Margo Martindale, on Bojack Horseman.
― the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Tuesday, 20 October 2015 21:12 (eight years ago) link
This show is way past its prime but still super enjoyable. This half-season has been a huuuge improvement on the last half of the sixth.
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 15 December 2015 12:15 (eight years ago) link
yeah there's a few too many dud story lines at the mo but just enough to keep me involved.
― Spottie, Tuesday, 15 December 2015 16:05 (eight years ago) link
Finally have gotten around to beginning this season, am enjoying the nu-Kalinda, her accent is definitely more convincing.
Looking forward to seeing where this Landau thing is going. Is there an online extra of Alicia and Veronica's cooking show scene in full splendor?
― :wq (Leee), Monday, 21 December 2015 01:59 (eight years ago) link
It's nice that Grace is helping out with her mom's practice, but isn't she supposed to be in college?
― Sofialo Ren (Leee), Saturday, 23 January 2016 05:01 (eight years ago) link
the show could save a lot of money by just cutting loose the entire cast at Lockhart-Agos-whatever
― the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Saturday, 23 January 2016 16:25 (eight years ago) link
They're obv gonna all get back together at some point tho
― Spottie, Saturday, 23 January 2016 17:11 (eight years ago) link
which is an awful idea since none of those characters have been associated with anything interesting in like a season and a half
― the naive cockney chorus (Simon H.), Saturday, 23 January 2016 17:37 (eight years ago) link
Matthew Lillard was so, so awful, I think that's the first time I've ever rooted for Alicia to lose a case.
― Chuck_Tatum, Saturday, 23 January 2016 19:52 (eight years ago) link
Finally caught up -- the bad episode I thought was before Matthew Lillard, the "Iowa" one. Like the writers purposefully tried to cram as many cliches into an episode as they could.
― Sofialo Ren (Leee), Sunday, 31 January 2016 04:30 (eight years ago) link
The music episode was nice if only for the return of Marissa.
still watchable but not nearly what it once was
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 02:19 (eight years ago) link
Margulies hinted that this will be her (and thus, I have to imagine the) final season. We can only hope.
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 02:27 (eight years ago) link
It reminds me a lot of how Buffy struggled in its last two seasons - running out of story and steam, random cast changes, and the shift to a more inactive, ineffectual protagonist (mirrored by increasingly ineffectual writing).
Would watch a Marissa and Diane spinoff though
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 2 February 2016 12:53 (eight years ago) link
Hah, I was thinking of JM leaving and renaming this show The Good Daughter and following Grace's trials and tribulations, but The Sassy Daughter with Marissa would be soooo A++.
― Sofialo Ren (Leee), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 18:29 (eight years ago) link
haha i was thinking it should be named "the good daughter of the good wife" but decided not to post it.
― Option ARMs and de Man (s.clover), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 18:44 (eight years ago) link
anyway they should just give eli a lighter-touch prequel spinoff a la better call saul
― Option ARMs and de Man (s.clover), Tuesday, 2 February 2016 18:47 (eight years ago) link
only thing was it felt for a long time like it was headed to a destination & that the writers knew what that destination would be .... but now it's become increasingly clear that there was never a destination in mind
― Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 3 February 2016 05:33 (eight years ago) link
Just announced this is the last season. 9 episodes left!
― Spottie, Monday, 8 February 2016 17:25 (eight years ago) link
It's time. I'll miss it a lot though! One of the most pleasurable TV shows ever, I think.
― Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 8 February 2016 21:47 (eight years ago) link
this has gotten so bad :(
― Better Pau Gasol (Spottie), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 04:37 (eight years ago) link
Yeah post-S5 has been largely a drag - if they'd found a way to end it at five season it'd have gone out as an all-timer.
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 04:58 (eight years ago) link
yup
― Better Pau Gasol (Spottie), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 05:57 (eight years ago) link
Still an all-timer for me, even operating at half-speed. This season's been an improvement on the last one.
Not to slight Alicia (who's still great) but maybe the show is just a bit more boring without Will.
― Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 13 April 2016 10:51 (eight years ago) link
My partner watched this relentlessly while breastfeeding on the sofa and I joined in when I could, was a bit perplexed with the end of the Florrick Agos arc - I got that they moved into LG's offices, then Diane joined, next time I watched David Lee was there as well and it was like the end of Animal Farm. S7 still to go as it's not on uk netflix yet.
― Just can't get Eno, ugh (ledge), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 12:24 (eight years ago) link
yeah the loss of will pulled all the internal tension out of the show. Then Kalinda leaving. Really miss Lemond Bishop too.
― Better Pau Gasol (Spottie), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 16:14 (eight years ago) link
S7, if it's the last series, is / was on more 4 recently so it might be on all4
― koogs, Wednesday, 13 April 2016 16:33 (eight years ago) link
Last week was episode 7.11, iowa
― koogs, Wednesday, 13 April 2016 16:35 (eight years ago) link
s7 is, mercifully, the last season
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Wednesday, 13 April 2016 16:36 (eight years ago) link
"Mercifully"?
I mean, it's clearly not as good as it used to be - not even close - but it's still really enjoyable. I'm glad it's been around for two more so-so seasons rather than quitting after the fifth.
Good decision to stop now though.
