i'm sort of caught between your respective attitudes. the right pressures have led even awful, deeply cynical people to do some decent things (see: richard nixon) but i don't really see that dynamic at work yet.

how come Sanders has almost no contributions from individuals but some from PACs, and Hillary has less in PACs than Sanders even, tho obv blows him out of the water w/ individuals? Do they count individual donations by the corporation the individual works for, or are these all individual owners of said corporations?

This table lists the top donors to this candidate in 1999-2014. The organizations themselves did not donate, rather the money came from the organizations' PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

With union PACs topping Bernie's list, there's going to be relatively few individuals who list those unions as their employer.
