Well, he was a surveyor.

I work Tuesday and Wednesday nights, but if that is the only day that works for everyone I will cry into my pillow and dream of Silver Spring.

at the library, Saturday, 5 November 2005 19:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Mary, I'll go with you some other night if you'd like, if Tuesday or Wednesday is decided on.

Our street has noize of the DC public works truck (garbage? perhaps?) coming by at MIDNIGHT and then the metrobuses going by all day starting at like 6am.

This sounds like New Haven.

just fyi - mr. le$ko's son was decidedly not at all wacky. although he wore nonmatching socks every day of high school. he was all around normal. and mrs. le$ko was as sweet and down to earth as anyone. she came into the bakery where i worked and i tried to give her free cookies, and she protested and paid in full because she wanted to support the bakery. nice.

carly (carly), Sunday, 6 November 2005 01:11 (eighteen years ago) link

wait, does everyone on this thread know the Le$kos?

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Sunday, 6 November 2005 18:29 (eighteen years ago) link

It's the Isle of Le$kos.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Sunday, 6 November 2005 18:56 (eighteen years ago) link

i went to high school with a le$ko, and pete went to college with him.

carly (carly), Sunday, 6 November 2005 20:17 (eighteen years ago) link

i remember Le$ko walking into a dorm room i was in one weekend night my freshman year. i was very unhappy that his clothes lacked question marks, but my stoned-ness did not allow me to ask him about it.

JD from CDepot, Sunday, 6 November 2005 20:30 (eighteen years ago) link

surely, can't we give it up for the 5-3 Redskins' glorious victory over the EAGLES!

Mark Brunell for President. Or at least the Supreme Court.

JD from CDepot, Monday, 7 November 2005 05:46 (eighteen years ago) link

final bit of Le$ko trivia...also the President of the SSDP at UMD.

So, uh, are we getting Mandalay this week? And JD, any way I can convince you to come?

Zack Richardson (teenagequiet), Monday, 7 November 2005 14:50 (eighteen years ago) link

just call me, im busy this week, but who knows. (if you dont have my number, let me know. and let me know about some shows, too.)

JD from CDepot, Tuesday, 8 November 2005 05:41 (eighteen years ago) link

my week has become a whirling dervish. im not sure if mandalay is likely for me this week. i URGE everyone else to go, though. you will definitely want to go back, and ill be there when you do.

DID U GUYS EAT?

TOMBOT, Thursday, 10 November 2005 16:20 (eighteen years ago) link

I walked around my new neighborhood last evening.

The Pour House on Pennsylvania Ave had DMX playing on the juke box and was full of young professionals in suits. I didn't go in.

I am getting a flat screen monitor in my cubicle. HIGHLIGHT OF DAY

dar1a g (daria g), Thursday, 10 November 2005 16:32 (eighteen years ago) link

I think our commitment to Burmese cuisine was defeated by giddy anticipation of Veterans' Day celebrations. Soon, though.

For my part, I'm also anticipating spending most of December standing in line to see that fucking panda.

carly (carly), Thursday, 10 November 2005 20:32 (eighteen years ago) link

ok, i don't hate everything anymore. whew. carly, you = class. can i take that drink over thanksgiving instead?

ZR (teenagequiet), Thursday, 10 November 2005 20:36 (eighteen years ago) link

petesmith (plsmith), Thursday, 10 November 2005 20:58 (eighteen years ago) link

i dropped a drink? hmm. yep, that DOES sound like me.

carly (carly), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:00 (eighteen years ago) link

(i had to add "sit-down" because of JD, with whom ive eaten many meals, none of them sit-down!)

petesmith (plsmith), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:00 (eighteen years ago) link

HUNGRY. NEED PANDA POCKY.

quincie, Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:01 (eighteen years ago) link

i dont remember you ever dropping a drink from your HAND... coughcoughKOREATOWNcough

petesmith (plsmith), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:01 (eighteen years ago) link

aw, dusty back of cd store meals. dropping drinks was so cute when i was in the blush of youth. also, this strain of conversation reminds me of this ridiculous drunk girl i met on halloween who wanted to be called 'burly' and hated the other potential nickname for her name, 'kim.' i don't know why she though burly was a great alternative. she dropped a glass while chatting, stated that she did it on purpose, and proceeded to move around the room, dropping no less than three (3) more glasses in the space of 30 minutes of drunken conversation. i got the hell out of there.

xpost oh man, you had to remember? cringe, grin hiding my shame, cringe.

carly (carly), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:05 (eighteen years ago) link

so, zack, if it makes you feel any better, i dropped AN ENTIRE TABLE of drinks. details unnecessary, or may be addressed along with aforementioned records and plenty of spirits.

carly (carly), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:10 (eighteen years ago) link

you know, that actually does make me feel better. i totally wanna hear that buckingham/nicks btw. in return i will play you lulu's "i'll come running," which has been ruling my world for the last two weeks - it's even better than the eno song of the same name!

ZR (teenagequiet), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:26 (eighteen years ago) link

zack - do you remember that band whose cd we got in at MUC a few years ago who had one song that sounded exactly like motorik neu!? it was a double name, like the gris gris (but not them), if i remember correctly...

petesmith (plsmith), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:29 (eighteen years ago) link

lulu of to sir, with love fame? couldn't have gotten through high school without hearing it on 100.3. remember when 100.3 was something other than commercials? july 4th weekends (top 500 countdown) have never been so awesome.

carly (carly), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:32 (eighteen years ago) link

NEVERMIND! THANKS!

petesmith (plsmith), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:33 (eighteen years ago) link

that rhino box is ridiculous, from what i heard from ZR. you will love it, carly.

petesmith (plsmith), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:34 (eighteen years ago) link

oh man, now i have to go to ilm and find out that band name. thanks a lot, pete.

xpost, the one shaped like a hat box? awesome.

carly (carly), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:35 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah same lulu, except growling her fucking guts out over a jimmy page gtr hook that's punchy enough to give black eyes to unsuspecting listeners. your heart will fill with amore upon hearing it.

my hand smells like coffee. gross.

ZR (teenagequiet), Thursday, 10 November 2005 21:42 (eighteen years ago) link

i can't really drink coffee, which is a shame because i have SO much school work to do right now. (the whole caffine thing just makes my heart race and remind me of days when i used to ADD-ER-ALL up.)

Zack, remind me to tell you the Sam Sessa dropping drinks story sometime. Very Funny.

TOMBOT, Friday, 11 November 2005 14:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Seconded.

Mr. Quincie's employer, in an attempt to make everyone feel better about having to work on a federal holdiay, somehow made everyone feel worse by announcing that employees could wear jeans today.

YIPPEE jeans so much better than a holiday baaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!
