I'm fine with Je Bush.

pplains, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:41 (nine years ago) link

Or maybe everyone should call him John E or just plain E, like they did with his brother.

pplains, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:42 (nine years ago) link

John E. "Smoke" Bush

Hi! How are you? Have you seen this (WilliamC), Monday, 18 May 2015 17:43 (nine years ago) link

lol

I like JE (sounds like "Gee") let's go with that

Οὖτις, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:45 (nine years ago) link

"JE Bush, did you think up that answer all by yourself?"

Οὖτις, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:45 (nine years ago) link

"JE that sounds like a terrible idea, have you really thought this through"

Οὖτις, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:45 (nine years ago) link

Clearly someone realized really early on that "J. E. Bush" sounded way too much like a robber baron. While I'd love for the news to start calling him that, it does border on "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" stuff.

Doctor Casino, Monday, 18 May 2015 17:46 (nine years ago) link

Like the Tea Baggers and "Hussein", I just want the American people to realize that John Bush share the same first name as the guy who shot Reagan.

Now srsly, who the fuck could listen to that?

choice rubio detail in the middle of this wapo article (about rand paul's patriot act filabuster):

Late Wednesday night Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), two of his competitors for the GOP presidential nomination, showed up in the chamber. Cruz presided over the body and, when done, spoke on the floor, urging colleagues to support the USA Freedom Act. Rubio presided and appeared to be engrossed in a magazine.

just FYI, jeb bush has important thoughts on climate change

"For the people to say the science is decided on this is really arrogant, to be honest with you"
+
"I don't think the science is clear of what percentage is man-made and what percentage is natural. It's convoluted"

Karl Malone, Thursday, 21 May 2015 13:44 (nine years ago) link

im no scientist but the percentages look extremely screwy imho

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 May 2015 14:10 (nine years ago) link

The important thing is we keep questioning whether scientists are lying and not whether it is cool companies can dump carbon into the air we all breathe with little financial disincentive.

Steve Schale, the Florida strategist who wrote the “Marco Rubio scares me” blog post, said that when he worked for the Democratic leader of the Florida House of Representatives, his boss, Dan Gelber, had a saying about Mr. Rubio’s effect on crowds, and about his sincerity: “Young women swoon, old women pass out, and toilets flush themselves.”

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Friday, 22 May 2015 18:44 (nine years ago) link

yeah the quote is from that story

Οὖτις, Friday, 22 May 2015 19:07 (nine years ago) link

Patti Solis Doyle, who ran Mrs. Clinton’s presidential campaign for most of the 2008 contest, said Mr. Rubio “could have the ability to nip away at the numbers for the Democrats.”

Ms. Doyle, the first Hispanic woman to manage a presidential campaign, added that Mr. Rubio could allow Republicans to regain a “reasonable percentage” of the Hispanic vote, which hit a low of 27 percent in the 2012 presidential election.

“He is a powerful speaker,” she added. “He is young. He is very motivational. He has a powerful story.”

Yet another reminder of the stupidity of Democrats. Rubio is not a powerful speaker, is not motivational, and doesn't have a powerful story. He has the intelligence of a salt shaker and the charisma of a corduroy jacket.

He is young, I'll concede.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 22 May 2015 19:10 (nine years ago) link

and so begins the trial testing of unsatisfying gop candidates via planted news story, next week hillary is afraid of... rand paul?

lag∞n, Friday, 22 May 2015 19:10 (nine years ago) link

she should be "afraid" of anyone of course, because she is a transparent fucking phony. So, tied.

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Friday, 22 May 2015 19:13 (nine years ago) link

those quotes really have nothing to do w the stupidity of democrats she was just giving the reporter the quote they wanted to hear, m/l the equivalent of yeah sure whatever you say

lag∞n, Friday, 22 May 2015 19:13 (nine years ago) link

don't scare grandma!

Οὖτις, Friday, 22 May 2015 19:14 (nine years ago) link

the republicans are tbf much more interested in the rubio as latino whisperer line, doubt too many professional democrats buy it

lag∞n, Friday, 22 May 2015 19:15 (nine years ago) link

He is young. He is very motivational. He has a powerful story.”

Each time I read a quote to that effect from a GOP operative, I sense an invisible "...just like Barack Obama." at the end. I think a huge number of Republicans still think to this day that Obama was elected twice because, gosh, he's just got this fabulous gift of gab.

pplains, Friday, 22 May 2015 20:28 (nine years ago) link
