Who ratted out Cersei?
― brotherlovesdub, Monday, 25 May 2015 06:37 (nine years ago) link
Lancel, her cousin
― Hell Books (latebloomer), Monday, 25 May 2015 06:43 (nine years ago) link
i'm wondering how long the high sparrow knew about that.
― AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 25 May 2015 15:01 (nine years ago) link
It seems at this point they're showing us three plausible rulers (Stannis, Dany and Jon) all of whom give something of a damn about the supernatural stuff in their world. The other players are too caught up in power politics
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 25 May 2015 15:06 (nine years ago) link
I think high sparrow possibly was waiting to do this. I half expected him to smile at the end, like a sadist but apparently he takes no pleasure in this.
I really thought Sam was going to kill those guys to get some cred, like Jon would have for executing that disobedient coward but it probably wouldn't have worked.
Amazed I didn't realise the Red women is the star of Black Book! Stannis is getting more interesting.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:13 (nine years ago) link
littlefinger delivered lancel to the high sparrow no? thats what his line to the queen of thorns about having a beautiful boy for her was about
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:15 (nine years ago) link
If Dany and Tyrion do somehow become allies, I hope the first thing they do is get a search team for Varys.
Maybe Jaime and Bronn will make this their new home? So nice there, even the prison stays.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:20 (nine years ago) link
xp he did, but he may well have already known bc I expect lancel confessed most of his sins some time ago before cersei's capture, and was prob looking for the most opportune possible time
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:22 (nine years ago) link
right after littlerfinger set it up?
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:24 (nine years ago) link
in this working theory, lancel prob confessed to the high sparrow months and months ago, and it would be to the sparrow's advantage to wait for cersei to think she had him in his pocket, and then snap the trap - also perhaps he wanted to observe her actions for himself to have an opinion on cersei beyond whatever lancel told him
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:26 (nine years ago) link
it's a little confusing with the littlefinger angle but it wouldn't be the first time his intentions dovetailed with someone else's
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:27 (nine years ago) link
is this like based on anything that happened in the show, cause usually theyre pretty good about telling you whats going on and they had a scene where littlefinger said he set it up
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:28 (nine years ago) link
well, lancel first revealed himself to cersei as a religious fanatic very early on in this season, making ominous statements about "his sins" and forgiveness, and could have been talking to the high sparrow as early as that - but I could also be demonstrably wrong! and the sparrow only just found out solely through littlefinger setting it up
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:32 (nine years ago) link
Ha I assumed Littlefinger had found Roberts bastard in the rowboat
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 25 May 2015 15:36 (nine years ago) link
i mean cerseis misdeeds dont really fall under the heading of lancels sins, also everyone knows that cersei is gnarly as hell rumors re incest are public knowledge, lancel is important not as an informant but as a witness, but mostly from a storytelling standpoint it wld be weird to have the plot explicitly explained one way but then have another secret unreferenced plot happening in the background, sort of a tree falls in the forest type of scenario, maybe it happened that way in the books? idk
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:40 (nine years ago) link
lancel's sins: roofied king for cersei, committed incest with cersei
― resulting post (rogermexico.), Monday, 25 May 2015 15:44 (nine years ago) link
wait did lancel bang cersei too
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 15:45 (nine years ago) link

I think Littlefinger's boy is someone else entirely.
― Van Horn Street, Monday, 25 May 2015 16:18 (nine years ago) link
cld be but he also encountered lancel when he came into town so u know hes got lancel on the brain, if im wrong abt this i blame the bad show
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 16:19 (nine years ago) link
I figure that when Littlefinger saw Lancel he knew that the religious freaks already had evidence that Tommen was Jaime's son and would eventually move against the Lannisters. So it's a good thing his people picked up Gensry somewhere so that he could come back to Kings Landing and marry Margery
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 25 May 2015 16:32 (nine years ago) link
Gendry ffs
but gendry is just a bastard
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 16:37 (nine years ago) link
A bastard to lead the many against the few
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 25 May 2015 16:39 (nine years ago) link
have a feeling the many r gonna be crushed in short order
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 16:40 (nine years ago) link
Yeah but more likely Littlefinger has that guy who testified against Margery and her brother and is about to make him disappear
― Is It Any Wonder I'm Not the (President Keyes), Monday, 25 May 2015 16:41 (nine years ago) link
like these religious fanatics dont really have any power, littlefinger and the tyrells r gonna win
― lag∞n, Monday, 25 May 2015 16:41 (nine years ago) link

― Karl Malone, Monday, 25 May 2015 16:54 (nine years ago) link
it was kinda funny - on-purpose funny for once - and we got jerome flynn's wonderfully tuneful voice, not bad imo
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 25 May 2015 17:06 (nine years ago) link
Just realised Tommen must be freaking out and could command soldiers to kill all the sparrows.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 25 May 2015 20:06 (nine years ago) link
Meryn Trant is the commander now, right? And out of town.
― polyphonic, Monday, 25 May 2015 20:17 (nine years ago) link
Somebody else will probably be fulfilling his duties.
― Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 25 May 2015 20:25 (nine years ago) link
they addressed that. cersei reminded him that if they attack the sept Queen Marge and Ser Loras would likely be killed.

soldiers cld just waltz in there and take them back sans bloodshed tommen just cant do it cause hes a dumb lil kid

i don't think soldiers are good at the doing-things-without-causing-bloodshed

who is the toughest warrior who is actually still in town and not in prison.
― polyphonic, Monday, 25 May 2015 20:57 (nine years ago) link
xp tbf in westeros it's quite hard for anyone to do anything without causing bloodshed, may as well just go for it.
i figured cersei was trying to make tommen buy into the idea of the sparrows having an authority and importance beyond just something which she was bestowing upon them. except then they lock her up and suddenly they actually do.

I think you're overrating the abilities of a one handed man a bit is all, albeit largely bc nothing motivates anyone like religious fury
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 25 May 2015 22:19 (nine years ago) link
also the remaining kingsguard are largely useless
― slothroprhymes, Monday, 25 May 2015 22:20 (nine years ago) link
when people were saying at the beginning of the season that religion was going to start playing a bigger part on the show, I didn't know that meant religious dudes were going to take over and put everyone in dungeons
