i'm with Morbs in the silliness of spinning stories eight years down the line. BUT because i can't resist indulging in fanfic, there are tons of ways that hillary wins in 2016 and is not the candidate in 2020! i mean it basically happened with LBJ. and all the presidents who died in office. lots of things happen in four years. the "long game" is always illusory IMO.

I'm very open to alternatives, morbs. what do you suggest?

there are tons of ways that hillary loses in 2016
― the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 4 June 2015 17:04 (nine years ago) link
hillary cld def lose, i wldnt put money on it right now but its for sure possible
― lag∞n, Thursday, 4 June 2015 17:09 (nine years ago) link
sure. many things are possible.
― Οὖτις, Thursday, 4 June 2015 17:09 (nine years ago) link
not to be morbid but she could have a heart attack tomorrow and bernie sanders would (temporarily) be the front-runner. the future is not set. same goes for every candidate ever, but given that hillary has managed to be the assumed "next" candidate for seemingly eons --- including in 2008! --- it maybe does jump out a bit here, the heir-apparent thing. i don't mean any of that to discount the enormous structural forces of money and power, the "invisible primary," the pathetic republican field, everything else. and obviously it's a "speculation" thread, says so right in the name.
― Doctor Casino, Thursday, 4 June 2015 17:12 (nine years ago) link
the thing that worries me abt hillary re the election is she has repeatedly shown herself to be the most unnatural of politicians, that and surrounding herself with schemers and fools, on both points she seems to be doing better this time but obvs the heat is not really on yet

god I almost threw up when I heard Sidney Blumenthal's still her henchman.

Kids: Abba, why didn't you stop the coastal flooding that cost thousands of lives?Me: Well, kids, back in 2015 there was this message board called ILX and I just couldn't stop posting on this speculation thread about the 2016 election. I'm so sorry.

He began training for the U.S. Navy SEALs at the age of fifteen, with U.S. Army veteran Billy Shelton, who lived near Luttrell's home. He trained every day with his twin brother, Morgan, and others who aspired to join the U.S. Navy and other Special Operations Forces. Shelton trained them using various weight and endurance exercises. After high school, Luttrell attended Sam Houston State University, where he joined the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.[5]

my wife had a friend from high school who had an extra-marital affair with a NAVY Seal and wrote a thinly-veiled novel about it it was gross

surprised that no one has mentioned that perry's announcement included a remix of a country-rap song
video here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/rick-perry-has-a-rapcountry-song-about-rick-perry
more pulitzer-worthy coverage here: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/rick-perry-launches-presidential-campaign-with-rap-country-song-20150604
“Rick Perry supporter, let’s protect our border,” the rap part says. “To hell with anyone who don’t believe in the USA / Rick Perry all the way.”“I won’t back up / I don’t back down / I been raised up / To stand my ground / Take my job / But not my gun / Tax my check till I ain’t got none / ‘Cept for the good lord up above / I answer to no one,” the country part says.“Give me my right to vote / My right to tote / The weapon of my choice, don’t censor my voice,” goes the second rap verse.A spokesperson for Perry didn’t immediately return a request for comment about the song.
