are politicians uniquely awful people, or are most people like this and it just doesn't become a matter of public curiosity?

Οὖτις, Monday, 8 June 2015 20:05 (nine years ago) link

As well she should.

Mordy, Monday, 8 June 2015 20:13 (nine years ago) link

surprised that digby wrote that! on her own blog, she notes that

I don't write those headlines and I would argue that contrary to what this one says, my piece doesn't make a case that progressives should "believe." I simply point out that her history shows that many people once saw her as a liberal feminist, now she's perceived as a centrist and her record shows that --- it's complicated. But what the piece is really about is her strategy, which would have once been considered somewhat dangerous for a serious presidential candidate. It says something about the political terrain and the lessons learned over the past few years that she is choosing a pretty liberal domestic agenda.

Ted Cruz makes a funny:

Let me start by saying if I’m elected, January 2017, I suppose the first thing I should do is send flowers and a note of condolences to all of the reporters and editors who’ve checked themselves into therapy.

Οὖτις, Monday, 8 June 2015 21:45 (nine years ago) link

followed by canceling any treasonous agreement with Iran that our treasonous traitor president might have agreed to, treasonously, i hope

Karl Malone, Monday, 8 June 2015 21:47 (nine years ago) link

people have short memories re. HRC, i guess.

he quipped with heat (amateurist), Monday, 8 June 2015 23:04 (nine years ago) link

Does Cruz intend to put those flowers on the public dime or pay for them out of pocket? He needs to declare his intentions there.

Aimless, Monday, 8 June 2015 23:26 (nine years ago) link

I'm not gonna even link the Sunday NYT piece on HilRod's campaign, but apparently they've decided to focus on "the base" in the general election too, the Obama way, rather than try to flip red states a la Bubba. "Centrist" strategists are in a tizzy.
