4/4:30/5 works for me. Only thing I'm steadfast on is Rodrigo y Gabriela, but I may be dissuaded if someone can convince me Gogol Bordello is more worth seeing. I think I'm gonna get a wristband for Panic! at the Disco, just to see an emo cry when he can't get in. Actually, I like them. I might check them out.

Senor Rickey, would you email me your phone number?

The Reverend, Saturday, 1 September 2007 02:50 (sixteen years ago) link

So around 4:30/5. Apparently need to leave time to stand (tipsily) in line for Stella. Two Bells or the McMenamin's on Roy or?

the higgs, Saturday, 1 September 2007 03:19 (sixteen years ago) link

who is stella?

jergïns, Saturday, 1 September 2007 03:20 (sixteen years ago) link

I have been wondering this, too. Where is 2 Bells?

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 04:05 (sixteen years ago) link

Just not that faux-scottish place, it is annoying.

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 04:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Also, HELLO! I am practicing w/ the gin tonight.

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 04:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Hmmm...this puts a bump in the rug

*We regret to announce Stella will not perform at Bumbershoot 2007 as previously listed; Michael Ian Black will perform instead with Special Guests.

the higgs, Saturday, 1 September 2007 05:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, I noticed that on the schedule. He's a third of Stella.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Saturday, 1 September 2007 06:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Bumbershoot really doesn't interest me this year, I'm afraid. Not that that really disappoints me cause I've had plenty of good fun the past three years there. The only thing that might push me to go is seeing Roky Erikson but that really doesn't make me want to pay the full price to get in, either. Of course it's possible that by Monday I'll change my mind.

I still don't understand where this FAP is supposed to be. There's plenty of stuff at 2nd and Bell isn't there? Or are we talking about this place called Two Bells at 2313 Fourth Ave?

Bimble, Saturday, 1 September 2007 08:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay, 2 Bells @ 5 unless changes are made prior, in which case txt plz kthxbye!

I'm considering wearing my lavender crocs w/smartwool sox - if you are going to hate on me, plz be creative about it :D

Jaq, Saturday, 1 September 2007 16:06 (sixteen years ago) link

Hey Seattle people, we have a bunch of stuff to get rid of. If you want any of the following, drop me a note:

3 CD shelves (IKEA - blue and cream, hold approx. 75 CDs each. 4' high x 1' wide x 8" deep)
upright vacuum cleaner (w/ cyclonic action! bagless, works fine)
2 tables that make great desks (approx. 3'x 5')
Sony Vaio desktop PC w/ 17" flatpanel
3 short bookshelves (cheap, from Target)

motel #1

The Bridge Motel (3650 Bridge Way N, off Aurora, in Fremont) will host a one-night only event to kick off the MOTEL series on 15 September 2007, 5 PM - midnight. Built in 1952 by a retired policeman, the motel has anchored the north end of the infamous Aurora Bridge for decades in welcoming glory. Originally a place frequented by tourists and traveling salesmen, the Bridge Motel has over time become more a place for those living from paycheck to paycheck, and whose lives involve drug use, prostitution, and the like. In the popular imagination, the place embodies and realizes that underbelly, shady side of life's toiling. There has been murders here, and numerous drug busts, its decaying artifice contains the stories of a full lifetime of drama, and the day by day passing through of souls... For one night, its last night of existence, the Bridge Motel will be dressed up and called to shine and dance ... Numerous installation/performance artists have been given full rein the week prior, to transform each dilapidated pocket into whatever they could imagine. The opening evening will reveal the Bridge's final blossom before its inevitable razing. And to top it off, every inch of the motel will be crawling with performance artists, injecting the animation and energy of truly ephemeral art. The stellar roster of artists involved is sure to create a cacophony of sights and sounds to inspire the mind and heart, and give the aging motel a proper dress-up before it's demise ... This night is not to be missed.

gah, we are so wiped out from packing/sorting/cleaning.

There is also one of those rolling tilting bookstand/laptop desks up for grabs. The computer has been earmarked.

Jaq, Sunday, 16 September 2007 03:35 (sixteen years ago) link

The computer has been earmarked.

big ups jaq

the motel thing was kind of really great. i took a bunch of pictures. i'll throw a few up here and start a thread on net art and link it.

i can't believe we aren't all at the ballet's Opening Gala.

jergïns, Sunday, 16 September 2007 03:41 (sixteen years ago) link

oh yeah the motel rooms in that thing STUNK something crazy. whoa

jergïns, Sunday, 16 September 2007 03:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Mr. Jaq has been wanting to do a feature-length story about all the motels up and down Aurora, but hasn't got beyond thinking it would be a cool thing to do. I can imagine the smell. Also, the texture of the carpet. blergh

Parties w/ you and your co-workers is the closest I've ever come to attending the ballet, btw. Maybe this is my year to see the Nutcracker.

Jaq, Sunday, 16 September 2007 03:49 (sixteen years ago) link

see the Nutcracker FREE

there's an amazing photo essay waiting to be done on those motels. also, 85th-125th has some great ones. or at least great signs.

jergïns, Sunday, 16 September 2007 03:50 (sixteen years ago) link

(written essay too but i can picture the pictures easy)

jergïns, Sunday, 16 September 2007 03:51 (sixteen years ago) link

jaq - You should come to see my studio's ultra-lo-budget, kiddified Nutcracker! You might even get to see me moving the curtains around if I can't wriggle my way out of any involvement.

The Reverend, Sunday, 16 September 2007 12:12 (sixteen years ago) link

So are those motels on Aurora actually, like motels where you can spend the night, or just old disreputable drug-and-hooker joints? It's weird that there are so many seedy-ish but vintage looking old places there.

I've been up Aurora as far as 130th, when I needed a hotel and everything closer to downtown was booked solid or super expensive. It feels very weird and un-Seattle up there, and our weird hotel had dozens of old RVs parked around it, packed with stuff. I assumed it was some sort of weird homeless camp or something.

Yeah, the relationship abides but sadly the planned September re-trip to Stl did not. I'm still paying off the other airline ticket, I dunno when I'll be back...but you'll hear from me when I am! I hope for fabulous parties chez lxy and chatter chatter all night on the porch.

Laurel, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 19:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Or until I/we are too drunk and no longer make any sense/have attention spans.

Laurel, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 19:19 (sixteen years ago) link

laurel,

i'm glad things are going well with the boy, and sorry your september trip didn't / won't happen. maybe you'll come in october instead. for fabulous parties. (no fear, we continue chattering even after we've stopped making sense.)

lxy, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 19:37 (sixteen years ago) link

I was going to go to Washington DC but on second thought, it's so goddamned uptight, I think I'd either be pissed off all the time or just give in and spend years obsessively focused on goals such as moving up the career ladder, buying a condo, and affording my first Beamer or some shit. All of which I don't actually care about.

there but for the grace of god. where is a northwest job (fuck the seahawks though)

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 20:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Come on out. Something will turn up, certainly.

btw, where we live now is about 4 blocks from the stadiums. Seahawks fans: turn up at 9 am for a 1 pm game, because that's when the bars open. General rowdiness, tire squealing, and yelling from 9 am until noon, when apparently they all pass out in their seats at the game. Mariners fans: turn up at 6 pm for a 7 pm game (because parking is free after 6), apparently do their drinking in the stadium (or maybe they were all crying in their beers at the country bar down the block), then drive meekly home to the eastside.

Jaq, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 20:36 (sixteen years ago) link

fuck the seahawks

otm

gabbneb, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 21:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay, Mr. Mariners' Fan who was pretending to fuck the pig statue across from the stadium by Pyramid Ale - was that necessary? I think perhaps you are a Seahawks' fan in disguise and are looking to give the baseball fans a bad name.

Jaq, Thursday, 27 September 2007 03:17 (sixteen years ago) link

i hate those pigs (and am not a fan of the guy)
