David, who appeared on the most recent series of Celebrity Big Brother, was set to begin a UK tour 'David Gest Is Not Dead, But Alive With Soul' in July.

The show must go on!
― Alba, Tuesday, 12 April 2016 15:17 (eight years ago) link
It probably seems kind of ghoulish - in fact (I'm assuming) it's incredibly ghoulish since it refers to the scene where he was asleep in the Celebrity Big Brother house when Angie Bowie heard that her ex-husband was dead. She told a US reality TV show star "David's dead", and before she could clarify, the younger lady ran off to tell everyone else that Gest was dead.

― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 12 April 2016 19:59 (eight years ago) link
Jesus Christ that profile!
He spends his days looking at his old comix and fucking that disgusting wife of his which might very well explain why every man over 70 is looking for his Tadzio.
His wife, Aline the star fucker, is vile. She is what you would imagine the screaming brunette standing at the stage door on 53rd of the Ed Sullivan theater on that chilly 9th of February 1964 who left with one of them would look like today. She hated me on the spot. Vermin have a chemical way to sense their own kind.
Maybe Crumb is indeed a nasty antisemite, but what has Aline Crumb done to deserve this?!
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 12 April 2016 20:03 (eight years ago) link
ffs, that piece is beyond horrendous.

Aline's Jewish btw (not sure Tuomas was aware of that)
I wasn't, but apparently the writer is too. So he thinks Aline and himself are both "vermin"? I thought the Observer was some kind of a quality paper, why would they publish self-centred, misogynist "gonzo" shit like that?

I have vague sort of fond memories of My Personal Culloden, even though they are very hazy memories of listening to it stoned. Was he possibly an influence on Morris's Blue Jam or influenced by it? I notice the poor bugger got the dreaded kiss of death Irvine Welsh patronage back then, that's probably why there is no wiki.
Anyway RIP.
― calzino, Wednesday, 13 April 2016 15:59 (eight years ago) link
RIP, My Personal Culloden is an immense statement that I need to revisit, Nectarine No. 9 all over it iirc. I remember him compering for Nick Cave in Prince Street Gardens some years ago, taking great pleasure winding up the abusive Birthday Party type crowd down the front as the evening wore on and Cave got increasingly late.Farewell.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzIjLizm-3I

Dammit can't find My Personal Culloden in my house, tomorrow I shall have to visit My Mother and make up some excuse to scuttle around her attic. I did find "Going Off Someone" from that album on a Nectarine No.9 compilation (cannae find it on youtube tho), and, on a Creeping Bent sampler, their cover of Rocket No.9 with the Jock Scot intro:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cicq7tA-_4IThis is a big deal for me, somehow. Many deaths of Icons this year, but this one seems a bit closer to home.
― Jonathan Hellion Mumble, Wednesday, 13 April 2016 20:56 (eight years ago) link
Yeah, I need to have a wee revisit of My Personal Culloden. Got into it off the back of Nectarine No 9's Saint Jack, which I also haven't listened in years. Both of them appear to be on Spotify, so that'll be rectified v shortly.
