Heh, there was some REALLY vicious stuff about CW on Facebook recently - he seems to be as popular within horror fan circles as he was on ILX

Some of the old ILM style longform posting on that Braxton thread is fantastic and it stands as an excellent Braxton resource. Now that Allmusic blocks me because I use adblock it's great that threads like that still exist, well at least for sad old bastards like me it is!

Momus has been sat in front of his computer all day, refreshing his browser every five minutes in disbelief that he's not been mentioned.

this is a v impt point and why this place is still essential shit-talking grounds for me

i have this weird analog, grew-up-before-the-web thing where i react to truculent online comments EXACTLY as i would if said to my face. i know this seems shocking... i expect this has mostly created the Hated Dr Morbius.

There are 60 active users on right now.

What's Facebook's current level of activity I wonder?

I miss most all my old playmates on AAD. M White was among the foremost of them, but there were many others.

ilx has slowed down a ton. those days when i would turn my back for a second and go back to a thread and there are another hundred posts are long gone.

it seems like there are way more threads though. in keeping with the niche marketing philosophy of the internet. something for everyone.

I miss Steve M (aka Blueski) and Ken C. The latter seems to turn up about once every six months (or maybe more often - I don't check here anywhere near as often as I used to), the former just disappeared off the face of the earth. For some reason, in my early days (2004-ish) I thought of those two plus Matt DC as a threesome that spearheaded London-ILX.

Hello everyone. I'm doing alright, and more touched than I probably really should be by the mention - but it does mean something to me, particularly when I probably haven't posted since the last World Cup.

I can't really remember why I drifted away. I got busy I guess, and had to cut some things out and get on with real life. I barely have an online presence in any respect now. I ran out of puff I suppose; I remember not really enjoying it, I don't really remember why. It certainly wasn't the creative writing thing - that went really well I thought. But writing is another thing I've had to leave behind.

Plus I'd been here a long time and was starting to repeat myself too often. As if to prove the point, I just had a read of Nick's 'best first listen' thread and was tempted to make a double return by adding another voice for Discovery, among others - but I had a vague feeling, checked back and found I'd made an identical post about five years ago. Nobody needs that.

Anyway much <3 to all. I do still have the occasional lurk from time to time - I've even put in the odd ballot when there's a poll I dig.

Otherwise I'm exactly as you'd expect, sitting on my couch enjoying my man Giroud ripping it up at the Euros. Aren't ITV's Art Deco credits lovely?
