erick² has decided trump's entire candidacy is a clinton setup; claims that trump would lose a convention fight if the delegates could vote in secret

missing is an explanation why a) the gop has completely fallen for it (because lol it wasn't due to open primaries erick²) b) none of the delegates have the moral fortitude to cast their anti-trump votes in public

I saw that and literally cackled with glee, then sat back and thought long and hard about all the decisions in my life that led me to a point where seeing that message pop up as a CNN alert on my phone would actually make me cackle with glee, and now I'm kind of depressed

I loathe and despise myself for this, but

My internet is spotty at the moment so forgive me but: is Lyin' Ted speaking at the request of the RNC or at the request of Donnie Daddyissues? Because both options are hilarious but different varieties of hilarious.

Cruz told reporters Thursday that the real estate mogul offered his former primary rival a speaking slot during the meeting and Cruz accepted. He added that he and Trump did not discuss an endorsement

speaking as someone with an it background, i would love to see a world where we actually had the power to deny access to sensitive data to anybody who displayed "extreme carelessness" handling it. we'd have most of the ceos of fortune 500 companies locked out of their companies' computer networks within a week. :)

Presented in a recent interview with a scenario, floating around the political ether, in which the presumptive Republican nominee proves all the naysayers wrong, beats Hillary Clinton and wins the presidency, only to forgo the office as the ultimate walk-off winner, Mr. Trump flashed a mischievous smile.

“I’ll let you know how I feel about it after it happens,” he said, minutes before leaving his Trump Tower office to fly to a campaign rally in New Hampshire.

State Dept reopening investigation into email server. for fuck's sake

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/07/politics/state-department-reopens-probe-into-clinton-emails/index.html?adkey=bn

akm, Friday, 8 July 2016 00:33 (seven years ago) link

I think this is procedure: they suspended their internal whatsis while the DoJ investigation was ongoing. Now that that's done, they can tie up loose ends.

State's internal process will determine whether any of them "security and administrative" consequences are warranted - either disciplining current employees, or putting some kind of negative mark in the file of past employees. Again, since Clinton was the actual boss, it hardly matters what her Permanent Record says, and she doesn't work there anymore so they can't really do anything to her. Even if they wanted to. Which they don't.

He reminds me of when I worked retail and there was that handful of weird regulars who would come in to the store that we were instructed to ignore until they go away. Mostly because they would have these very distinct styles of inane ranting that never had a particular point, or they would contradict themselves in the very next rant, but the only consistent element was that they wanted their ranting victim to understand that they understood clearly that things were very bad, not good at all, and that those responsible knew it but won't admit it but they know they're screwing up or they know exactly what they're doing (evil), etc. Actual non-vague solutions to these wake up sheeple issues were indeed things like "gotta nuke them all" or "gotta build a wall and get rid of them" or "ban all of them from coming here". If Trump didn't have money you know he'd be just another one of those guys with terrible breath posting flyers around town and cornering some retail employee until a manager comes over to distract them or kick them out.

I don't ever look at Trump's social media--just whatever makes the news--but the same thing occurred to me at some point yesterday. I kept waiting for some kind of incendiary, reckless statement, and nothing came.

clemenza, Friday, 8 July 2016 15:22 (seven years ago) link

I'm sure it was as simple as instructing the appropriate staff member to change his Twitter password. I highly doubt he knows how to navigate a technical obstacle of that magnitude.

i've read that he writes out his tweets and hands them to an aide to actually type them into the twitter app

which would not surprise me

Oh my god, that makes so much more sense. I couldn't figure out how such an apparent technophobe manages to use social media as frequently as he does.

If she wants to, Clinton might still be able to run against Bush. Unless there's someone in closer proximity.

This would command the world's attention for about 90 minutes. I guess boring is part of the calculation...still hoping for rogue Newt--maybe his sane comments the other day dropped him from consideration.
