one of the best songs ever.

the aryan overtones make it problematic in context though.

Treeship, Monday, 18 July 2016 19:43 (seven years ago) link

it's mostly about a coke addict chasing the next high, though, which fits in with trump's addiction to diet pills, short attention span, and pathological need for attention/adoration

Some of the stuff they'd rather keep off TV is on TV right now. Probably just a last-gasp for the anti-Trump faction, though.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 July 2016 21:08 (seven years ago) link

they might have been saying roll call vote. i am reading up on it now.

that's the problem with chants. they're never crisp.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Monday, 18 July 2016 21:11 (seven years ago) link

It's definitely "roll call vote," which is what the anti-Trump people want. I think this is more in order that their numbers might be precisely counted and marked as part of the party, etc., rather than out of any hope that they could win.

Apparently he was watching CNN and complaining about biased panels.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 July 2016 21:19 (seven years ago) link

Funny (paraphrasing):

CNN: But by asking for a role call, you're essentially asking for a vote on amendments to the rules.
Roll-Call Guy: We had that vote already two days ago.
CNN: Yeah, but we weren't here.

clemenza, Monday, 18 July 2016 21:20 (seven years ago) link

Examiner: You say that you identify as a conservative but you also say on the other hand that you don't like labels. What is it that makes you conservative?

Trump: Well, I've never liked labels, but I'm a conservative person but I never like labels but I'm a Republican and a conservative. But I was never one for labels.

Of course, Alex Jones is a “reasonable” man, so he eventually brought Andre on stage in what was presumably an attempt to show that he’s willing to let all sides of the political spectrum have a voice. Unfortunately for him, Eric Andre just wanted to tear shit up, telling Jones, “I want you to have sex with my wife.” Jones was taken aback and declared that Andre was just there to disrupt his free speech, with maybe one person in the crowd actually finding the exchange funny. Eventually, Andre grabbed the mic to ask “who put the bombs in Tower 7,” which Jones took as “something legitimate” for once, but Andre was ushered off of the stage before things could go further down that hole.

goole, Monday, 18 July 2016 23:01 (seven years ago) link

in retrospect Ted Cruz would have been the perfect VP pick. Or Jeb. Either one really. Trump LOVED having them around to pick on. They made Trump better! but Pence makes him worse. Emasculates him almost. because Trump is constrained around him, isn't allowed to pick on him. you can tell Trump resents having to say nice things about him.

'you know Ted, well, we shook the lies outta him and he's gonna be fine. Got a few things to learn, I'm not going to lie. that's why he's only gonna be Vice! but he'll be a fine Veep. Now give him a break! Moving on'

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Monday, 18 July 2016 23:22 (seven years ago) link

I am uneasy enough about Trump that I thank heaven for every misstep and mistake that makes it less likely he will win. The man is nearly unadulterated id. He should not get anywhere near the presidency, and yet he is nearer to it now than all but one person. That's way too close for comfort.
