(xpost) He should give up on that. Primary voters (and party establishment) wouldn't even rally around him as an alternative to Trump. He's just too creepy and disliked to ever get the nomination.

Creepy and Disliked is basically the GOP platform.

wow, that Ingraham video, I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt on stuff that gets gif-ed or otherwise removed from its context, but that really seemed like a white power dog whistle

was there a thing w/ingraham where a pic of trump was onscreen, with him making the same gesture? can't tell if that happened or was just twitter people putting images together

arts and crafts THIS GUY (daria-g), Thursday, 21 July 2016 01:43 (eight years ago) link

(xposts) I know, but you know what I mean--even within the context of the Republican party, at a moment when Trump was sliding and could have/should have finally fallen apart, primary voters looked over and said "Uh...no way." I think he'd have close to zero chance of winning in 2020. (Which doesn't mean he isn't indeed there with an eye to 2020--I don't think he got the message.)

For the first time in his political career, it seems Cruz mentions "gay"....in a sentence following one in which he calls for "religious freedom."

lag∞n, Thursday, 21 July 2016 01:47 (eight years ago) link

Still not much for enthusiasm, according to what I see. Or maybe it's still sparsely attended.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 21 July 2016 01:48 (eight years ago) link

So boring that these tools are just dusting off their stump speeches again. Yeah, freedom, OK.

Well, first you'd have to establish a pattern of Trump inventing employees, which he would never do.

I think it's a real person, Time confirmed someone with that name attended the university of Utah and the school of American ballet, which is what was in that speaker bio that got cited initially. I think it's just someone basically without an online footprint.

man, it sure seems that if cruz hadn't pissed off every key GOP official on a personal level, he would totally be the GOP nominee

intheblanks, Thursday, 21 July 2016 02:04 (eight years ago) link

I mean, obviously cruz is a disgusting villain, but at least he knows how to give a speech. From a pure delivery standpoint, that garbage was many times better than anything else I've seen over the last few days

Matthew Cooper

@mattizcoop

If you let a cribbed speech make it to the podium why would you be any better at vetting someone who won't endorse.
