Any other candidate would have said re the Code Pink supporter, "See? The First Amendment makes America great." Instead, he praises the police and resumes speech w/the phrase "I have no patience for..."

even Election night over this clown isn't gonna be fun. he and his base are gonna claim "vote suppression" after he gets demolished and start picketing on Washington claiming they counted Hillary votes twice in some precincts and they know this cos Trump has it on good authority!

There's a powerful speech in here somewhere, but Trump's delivery has been poor so far -- talking. at. half. speed. often with WEIRD accents.

Too hectoring, not funny. Hard to imagine casual viewers are going to be drawn in.

Kind of leaning on law and order a lot here. Is this really what moves people?

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 22 July 2016 03:03 (seven years ago) link

Still think the cadence - "LG. BTQ." - the accents - "reGEEEM change" - and the half-volume parentheticals - "believe me", "no good", "think of this" - are weird, and likely go over badly.

Reminds me of the Jon Stewart speech at that rally where he thought maybe he'd try to be a politician. As soon as he loses the foil of responding to people/news, and the technique of speaking off the cuff, he's a different guy. And much worse on TV.

Plasmon, Friday, 22 July 2016 03:03 (seven years ago) link

Al Moon Faced Poon (Moodles), Friday, 22 July 2016 03:07 (seven years ago) link

yeah you really have to be in a fox-news bubble where it's obvious to you and everyone you talk to that this handful of themes are the biggest, hugest, most widely-recognized crucial issues plaguing the country and driving all the problems. if you don't feel that way it's going to feel like he's kinda not talking about anything that matters, even if you are someone who agrees on some of these topics (?)
