btw this was my google search so i'm not sure why it put "best ass" in bold.

i guess enough people have searched for "most iconic butt" and eventually ended up clicking on "best ass" that google slowly learned that's what people secretly want even if they don't realize it

I like the skinny jeans they have at Old Navy that are secretly engineered to accommodate big asses. Sadly, even those are becoming a squeeze for me.

I was on the fence here until someone raised the prospect of shorts. Count me in for Team Pants, swamp ass is a small price to pay for not being seen in shorts.
― mfktz (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Monday, 3 July 2017 21:00 (seven years ago) link
Much rather have my legs covered than un-, yeah, unless actually swimming. And IME, if your pants are uncomfortably tight, that means you are wearing the wrong size, wrong cut, or both.*
And because I am a burb dad who gives exactly no fucks, I can just find like one pair of comfortable chino-type thingies and just buy them in every color.
*: I have said the same thing about dress shirts. If you buy or wear uncomfortable clothing, ur doin it rong
― bacon lettuce and tornado (Ye Mad Puffin), Monday, 3 July 2017 21:12 (seven years ago) link
yeah i was kinda jesting with my post. For most of my life I've preferred pants, I feel like there's some stigma around shorts when you're in your 30s, and pants do look more pro.

The question, YMP, is how many types of chino do you have to try before you find the comfort configuration

I hate dresses.(Voted female/uncomfortable, for this reason: the discomfort isn't caused by my genitalia, it's caused by my body fat being encased in unforgiving fabric tubes)― emil.y, Sunday, July 2, 2017 12:35 PM (yesterday) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

IDR posting this. But yes, in my experience it's less the crotch and more the waistband.
― Diana Fire (j.lu), Monday, 3 July 2017 22:25 (seven years ago) link
Tombot, the answer is one, or two at the outside.
If a Banana Republic/Land's End/LL Bean no-iron chino is comfortable in tan, it will also be comfortable when purchased in navy, olive, charcoal, and (if you're feeling daring) bone. Five or six pairs will last me quite a while.
They can dress up or down as needed and they're fairly neutral colors. Most days, literally all I do is choose a t-shirt; if I need to go to an office I just put on a dress shirt or polo shirt instead. Occasionally I will buy jeans, but have rarely found any that are comfortable.

swamp ass is a small price to pay for not being seen in shorts.
Some time in the vicinity of 50 I gave up on vanity about my legs and allowed myself to be seen in shorts whenever the occasion moved me.
― A is for (Aimless), Monday, 3 July 2017 22:47 (seven years ago) link
I wear shorts at home, but the vicinity of 50 was when my pale spindly hairless stems got too gross to go out without me changing into jeans.
― Mr. Crackpots (WilliamC), Monday, 3 July 2017 23:22 (seven years ago) link
Mr. 'boto, "most pants" may or may not be uncomfortable. I haven't worn all or even most of them, so I don't know.
All pants that I buy and wear are extremely comfortable. Otherwise I would neither buy nor wear them.

My main objection to shorts is having to slather on the white housepaint several times a day to stop my legs from turning red and crispy; Aussie sun is fierce.
As for the trousers thing, very much in the camp of 'if hey are uncomfortable you are doing it wrong' although with a side of 'the clothing industry is seriously fucked up about sizing'. I've got trousers in my wardrobe that range from 34-40 inches in nominal waist size, some of which is cut and waistband position, some of which is wait change, some of which is just the vagueries of clothing and the rise of vanity sizing.
Happy to have lost a bunch of weight this year, though; being closer to what the clothing industry considers nominal makes things a lot easier.

since i was a teen i have preferred 70s slacks, "grandpa pants", the kind you see in thrift stores that may have come with a cheap suit at one time and are now to be had for under 4 dollars. maybe they are by Haggar. maybe they have a ticket in the pocket that says "Inspected by number 56". maybe the legs are too long and they drag on the floor around my feet. GOOD. i love it.
