I hope this thread has seen Donald trump watching the massed bands of the French military play a daft punk medley.

I hesitate to call any of these villains tragic, but Don Jr. truly fits the bill. By every account Trump was a shitty father; rumor has it among the other shit in the alleged Apprentice tapes is Trump constantly calling his kids "retarded." When he left Don's mom reportedly Jr. didn't talk to Sr. for over a year. Don in college just fucked around/up, until his dad pressured/bought him into Wharton and, one presumes, slicking his hair back. Trump even went on the record back when citing Jr. as his most challenging child . And now Don Jr. is a teetotaler like dad, and clearly still out for approval. One piece posited that this whole meeting thing was yet another attempt to do something to impress dad, which makes sense. All of Trump's cohort are battling it out to be in his good graces. How must it feel to be a child and still have to fight for affection?

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 14 July 2017 18:09 (six years ago) link

It's sad that he had a fucked up childhood but now he's just another rich asshole, sorry

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Friday, 14 July 2017 18:11 (six years ago) link

He is a rich asshole (and he is sorry). But imagine being emotionally abused your entire life, and not only are you left handling the family business for your asshole dad, you even have the same fucking name. There is no escape.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 14 July 2017 18:13 (six years ago) link

The only way he could succeed and/or win back his dad is to become the very thing he hates!

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 14 July 2017 18:13 (six years ago) link

(Coming soon to a theatre near you)

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 14 July 2017 18:13 (six years ago) link

he could have escaped anytime he felt like it. he's an insanely rich white guy. he chose to be on The Apprentice and shit.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Friday, 14 July 2017 18:14 (six years ago) link

Victim blaming!

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 14 July 2017 18:15 (six years ago) link

Nah, it's cool, I don't feel bad for him. But I have no doubt he had a shitty childhood before he was rewarded with enough wealth and power to be shitty to others. The cycle continues.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 14 July 2017 18:15 (six years ago) link

LOL that video Macron is laffing it up, that is some high-concept and inscrutably French gamesmanship

If Trump started wearing a helmet, not only would he not have to worry about his hair, he could send other people out in his place and stay home and watch TV.

I have a great deal of sympathy for people who grow up under fucked circumstances, but it's a sympathy that wanes the longer they progress through their adult lives without taking responsibility for their own shit or putting any effort into being better than the dickholes that raised them.

Dippin' Sauce on my Nice New Slacks (Old Lunch), Friday, 14 July 2017 18:22 (six years ago) link

In his childhood, Trump learned to hunt and fish by spending time with his maternal grandfather in what was then Czechoslovakia.[47] Controversy erupted in 2012 when pictures surfaced of an African hunting trip Trump had taken in 2010. In one photo Trump has his arms around an endangered, dead leopard, and in another he is holding a knife in one hand and a bloody elephant tail in the other.

He is going to HAVE to start wearing a helmet at all times as safeguard against Frenchy po-mo psy-ops

CNN says 8 people, including 3 still unidentified, attended the Don Trump Jr. meeting with the Russians. Oops. https://t.co/eOgNrKtybc

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 14 July 2017 18:51 (six years ago) link

Don't forget Katie Rich, who was 'suspended' (can't see where she was ever fired but every trace of her involvement with the show seems to have been very successfully eradicated) from SNL after tweeting something about Barron specifically.

I'd add something to the convo about today's events but what can I really say about our President that hasn't already been said about a gangrenous penis

Gorelick out? Intriguing.

Jared Kushner's lawyer, Jamie Gorelick, is “dropping out” of representing him in the Russia probe, per @Isikoff https://t.co/6tUZdCccKr

I think the key is Gorelick isn't a criminal lawyer.
