The cocksucker Bannon quote will get the headlines but open attacks from two senior staff figures is mind-boggling

“They’ll all be fired by me,” he said. “I fired one guy the other day. I have three to four people I’ll fire tomorrow. I’ll get to the person who leaked that to you. Reince Priebus—if you want to leak something—he’ll be asked to resign very shortly.” The issue, he said, was that he believed Priebus had been worried about the dinner because he hadn’t been invited. “Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said.

Confidence!

Asked Johnson what if in conference talks break down, and House passes skinny:

Graham's a shitbag but you can see why his sense of humor/flashes of irony appeal to the beltway press

“If I don’t get those assurances I’m a ‘no’ because I’m not going to vote for a pig in a poke,” Graham said, adding he would happily defend such a vote if he doesn’t get the guarantee he is looking for. “I do this with joy in my heart.”

He actually delivered that last line rather well.

officer sonny bonds, lytton pd (mayor jingleberries), Friday, 28 July 2017 00:00 (six years ago) link

White House disarray poses something of a catch-22. As much as I enjoy these idiots infighting, each firing invites the chance they'll be replaced by someone competent. Which is a scary thought, except that the person doing the firing would be incompetent, too, indicating the replacement would likely be just as incompetent as the person they're replacing. Most likely we'll end up wth a fun mix of chaos agents and useless blobs, with the chief executive already the pinnacle of that special combo.

Every contestant eliminated on this season of the Apprentice makes it more difficult to apply the 25th Amendment when needed, in case something really goes awry (Trump orders a nuclear first strike, Mattis refuses, etc).

Neanderthal, Friday, 28 July 2017 00:39 (six years ago) link

LOL the wiki entry for 25th amendment includes this corker:
Upon becoming the White House Chief of Staff in 1987, Howard Baker was advised by his predecessor's staff to be prepared for a possible invocation of the Twenty-fifth Amendment[35] due to Reagan's perceived laziness and ineptitude.[36][37]

Those guys must look back now and laugh.
