never seen a badger unfortunately. would love a sighting of the mash potato eating mustelid.

one thing i miss about glasgow and environs is the urban foxes. otoh in vancouver i have seen skunks and raccoons by the thousands (both v cute, both a nuisance) and even a coyote.

madison WI has or had a popular cab service called Badger Cab with a tormentingly catchy jingle

just call a badgerrrr
BEEP BEEP
rely on badgerrrrr
BEEP BEEP

Always hope to see a raccoon when we are in the US, never have. I did see a skunk once in Cape Cod. And I saw a chipmunk in Big Bear. Love all these mammals.

Loads of foxes round here, I just saw one an hour ago on the way back from work. It's a tough old world when foxes have to get jobs. Sorry.

No one I know in Wisconsin has ever seen a badger.

Also they're supposed to be dangerous assholes, correct?

The worst thing about urban raccoons is that every raccoon in your neighborhood goes to the bathroom in the same spot. And if that spot they choose happens to be in your yard...well... It's awfully hard to convince them to go elsewhere.

in my experience, raccoons rarely cause trouble

for the most part i remember being taught to be more lenient and let them do their thing because they would eventually leave and are not harmful

if they became a nuisance we would call the municipality but this never happened in my experience with these little guys

to be honest i always loved the beaver more than any of these other rodents

if you are seeking out dangerous asshole animals, bypass badgers and go directly to wolverines (aka 'bearcats'). they make badgers look pretty mellow.

badgers and raccoons are not rodents

El Tomboto, Monday, 15 January 2018 23:36 (six years ago) link

fair enough but the only thing making raccoons a non-rodent is the lack of incisors

other than that they rummage through your trash and house like rats do
