What with the fires in California, it looks like I'm here until at least 11/5. (going to see Art Brut and the Hold Steady on 11/4 - anyone else?) Does Bollywood this weekend work for people? Shows at 9 Friday, 5 and 9 Saturday, 3 and 7 Sunday (g00gle for Totem Lake Cinemas).

I don’t know exactly what they were trying to convey, but the results of my informal poll of people trying to catch their busses home yielded a tally of one person whose opinion of Hillary was lowered, three people whose opinions were raised, and one person who called me a “fucking bitch.”

re: Bhool Bhulaiyaa
Highly Recommended...!!!, 12 October 2007 9/10 Author: raj_apart from India
Got a wasted day..?? This movie's gotta everything to make it all right. Well cooked story, nice and gripping presentation, power-packed performances.. and a humor different than the conventional slapstick humor that we get in movies these days (well, at least it was presented differently).
Priyadarshan is really a come-back in this one. Though I liked this fella always, but his movies had been following a routine kinda trail and all his experiments like Bhagam Bhaag have been failing miserably. But this movie was really a welcome break from his side.
Akshay Kumar, as he has already proved several time, has got a great comic timing. He brings twists to the movie's plot as well as inside your belly as you go laughing all the way. Vidhya Balan looks very sweet except for once, but I'll talk no further to ruin your suspense if you haven't seen the movie yet. Paresh Rawal & Rajpal Yadav are once again a treat to watch.
Go see this movie. Its an ultimate stress buster. Go with the guys, and you will have even more fun. :-)
I vote, "Highly Recommended". Was the above comment useful to you?

about Jab We Met, from Wikipedia:
"Aditya (Shahid Kapoor), a defeated industrialist, is even more broken as the girl he loves is getting married. Unable to muster up the courage to return home, he drifts out of the gathering and aimlessly boards a train, bounding away into the night.
As destiny would have it, on the train he meets Geet (Kareena Kapoor) - a beautiful but annoyingly talkative girl who is leaving Mumbai to go her hometown - Bhatinda (Punjab). Later, she has plans of eloping with her boyfriend.
Geet irritates Aditya to the point of getting him to leave the train. As she tries to get him back on the train, she ends up missing it and the two find themselves stranded on a desolate station with no luggage or money.
Begins the idyllic journey through the exuberant North Indian heartland in which this odd couple will make their way through buses and taxis and camel-carts, crossing Highways and deserts and lakes, meeting all kinds of people, to reach her house in Punjab ....... On arrival, Geet's family mistakes the two for lovers. Before this misconception can be cleared, Geet escapes to her boyfriend in Manali. Aditya leaves with her, confirming the suspicion that they are lovers. In Manali, Aditya feels empowered to return to Mumbai and resurrect his ailing business.
Life takes a positive turn and Aditya begins to do well. One day Geet's family who think that she is with him confronts Aditya. He is shocked to learn that Geet has not returned home. He takes it upon himself to find her. He finally tracks her down in a Himalayan town and begins another journey to reach Bhatinda and flow into the colors and conceptions of a loud and happy North Indian family."

The wiki also lists all 11 musical numbers (average length: 5 minutes) - the same guy did the music for Bhool Bhulaiyaa
― Jaq, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 22:20 (seventeen years ago) link
This one is less typical, for sure:
Bhool Bhulaiyaa is a psychological suspense / horror movie with moderate Bollywood song and dance and touches of humor. The Hindi language release is the offical remake of the critically acclaimed 1993 Malayalam psycho-thriller, Manichitrathazhu (translation - The Ornate Lock) which was also remade in Kannada (Aaptamitra) starring Vishnuvardhan in 2004, and in Tamil and Telugu (Chandramukhi) starring Rajnikanth in 2005.

I'm happy that windstorms are the form of the NW's most common natural weather disaster and not anything else (hurricanes, tornadoes, freezing rain, etc. Yes we get earthquakes but not regularly, at least yet.) because you just gotta know to keep batteries, water, some preserved foods, and sleep in a room away from a crotchety old evergreen outside your window. STILL, everyone knows to not do much of jackshit when a windstorm's sting hits. Fuck riding a ferry. Get a room somewhere instead. It's cheaper than sustaining up to a grand in car damages because of megaswells that knock it around.
Although as a passenger, that must be awesome in a vertigo-addict rickety roller coaster kinda way!

I offered these photos to the WS Ferry System, but they told me these kinds of shots don't promote ridership. I couldn't argue that one.
