Is it me or is the targeting not as good in SA, often you press R1 and he spins around and looks in completely the wrong direction.

I loved the dancing games in it, they're the only ones I complete first go, I am hoping there is one to SF-UR stuff, but I presume that's too easy.

Also one of my friends, to the great amusement of some other friends, has said the German DJ on the House station is me, with a German accent.

I just attempted the mission with OG having a party on Grove Street, and it said "go and get a haircut and new threads", anyway I got busted on the way to do so and now he says "meet me at the party" on my cellphone. Is it not necessary to get the haircut and new clothes? I kind of wanted to.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:11 (nineteen years ago) link

get some Changler shorts. whatever the hell those are.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:12 (nineteen years ago) link

And SF-UR is amazing! The only problem is I haven't listened to any other station in the entire game.

"What?? You have not heard of Smooth Joe??? You must be living in a cave! Live in a club! It is my Promised Land"

x-post I tried out red jeans and a red t-shirt but he looked super camp.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:12 (nineteen years ago) link

i have a bowling shirt on, black pants and gray boots. detail haircut and shades. my sex appeal is full.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:13 (nineteen years ago) link

ocassionally i like to throw on the wife beater to show off the tatoos.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:14 (nineteen years ago) link

I have that targeting problem too, sometimes he kind of spins around and fire a round at the sky :o(

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:15 (nineteen years ago) link

the SF-UR DJ is so funny.

great station all round.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:16 (nineteen years ago) link

I crashed the car the first time Chase The Devil came on K-Jah.

I've hit people while aiming at the sky, I think. I assume that most of the problems I've been having will sort themselves out once I get to higher skill levels in cars/bikes/guns etc.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:18 (nineteen years ago) link

AF - get to the firing range, it really helps boost up levels on pistol and mini-smg

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:20 (nineteen years ago) link

aha I think a trip to the firing range is in order for me too.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Trick with Wrong Side of the Tracks is to stay over to the right (just to the right of the tracks, which will make it easier for Smoke to aim); try to maintain about a 45-degree angle between your bike and the gangsters, and it's much easier. There are a couple of chase missions later that are incredibly difficult by comparison.

Also, I had completely forgotten how good that Lench Mob song was.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:23 (nineteen years ago) link

it's in the ammunation in Mulberry or Montgomery

god knows how but I passed all rounds first time - they make you do it on manual aim

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:24 (nineteen years ago) link

why go to target range when you can go for a GANG WAR!

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:26 (nineteen years ago) link

i hate the chase missions, they piss me off to no end.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:27 (nineteen years ago) link

i am the jammiest get in the world and did wrong side of the tracks on my second attempt by flukily getting the bike on top of the train as the tunnel approached and then getting off the bike and shooting the remaining bloke.

i'm having hella problems "stealing from uncle sam" though, i just can't get the hang of the forklift.

the leisure suit is in pro-laps, it is beee-yow-di-fool...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:29 (nineteen years ago) link

Actually, driving school so far puts any of the storyline missions to shame. I have no idea how to get a gold medal in the parallel-parking test or the street race. So close.

The forklift isn't too bad; it's important to get out after every trip and gun down some National Guardsmen. That buys you a lot of time for being able to transport the boxes before Ryder dies. If you haven't already noticed, your partners in this game are usually wildly ineffectual when it comes to killing people on their own.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:32 (nineteen years ago) link

was wrong side of the tracks really that difficult for you guys?? the hardest bit was to avoid the headon trains... i mean smoke does all the shooting for you!

the hardest one i got to so far was probably the first mission with Zero at the toy shop. (won't give it away here though) and also the second mission with Zero at the toy shop.. god that was hard.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:32 (nineteen years ago) link

stealing from Uncle sam = jump over the wall and don't open the gate, instead go over to the warehouse and open that, jilling all the guard in the process, this gives you more time with the forklift, also get out after each box and kill any weekend warriors that are causing trouble.

Ken - gang war with pistol = death

Porkpie (porkpie), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:33 (nineteen years ago) link

aha, much appreciated chaps, i shall try that later :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:35 (nineteen years ago) link

I did Wrong Side Of The Tracks first time, and I'm shit at games. It took me 5 or 6 gos to do Just Business.

Daniel otm, you have to keep jumping out and killing those soldiers in that mission. Also Steve, make sure you elevate the boxes high enough to slam them into the truck quickly. As far as I know, aswell, they don't fall off even if you zoom around in the forklift, even though they often look precarious.

How do you recruit a gang again? It says I am able to now.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:36 (nineteen years ago) link

yup zero's first mission took me at least a good solid 40 tries...and i just made it. apparently you can skip zero's second mission with no interuption of the storyline. in other words, you don't need to do it to advance in the game.

ronan, target with R1 and move the d-pad up.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:37 (nineteen years ago) link

i manage to win one gangwar with a pistol (that was only cos it was an easy as the territory was in the middle of the highway and it's easy to run away and come back to pick them off from a distance.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:37 (nineteen years ago) link

the second mission is FUN though! (it's a shame they don't label FUN on those trucks anymore)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:39 (nineteen years ago) link

try to maintain about a 45-degree angle between your bike and the gangsters

Er...

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:43 (nineteen years ago) link

Wrong Side of the Tracks got me stuck for a while, but the trick is to just stay as far right as possible. And make sure you take the high road when he says.

I'm stuck on the second Cesar race at the moment, the handling on that thing is awful.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:54 (nineteen years ago) link

the one with wuzi? there are loads of shortcuts you can take on that track which might help.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:57 (nineteen years ago) link

As far as I know, aswell, they don't fall off even if you zoom around in the forklift, even though they often look precarious.

I had one fall off, but then again, I'm uncannily good at fucking things up during a mission.

Er...I think that he meant keep your bike where Smoke's gun is pointing at a 45 degree angle. I was able to put this mission down by staying on the right side of the right tracks with the train on the left. Just stay even with the lead car and watch out for oncoming trains and cars parked in your way!

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:57 (nineteen years ago) link

the trick to that one is to ram people off the road.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:58 (nineteen years ago) link

No, the Wuzi one is pretty easy, it's the one where you're fighting for Catalina's affections that's pissing me off. I'm just messing about doing some vigilante missions before I summon up the patience to tackle it again.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 12 November 2004 15:59 (nineteen years ago) link

oh actually that's the one i meant! try look for outragious shortcuts through the grass rather than staying on the road (it'd put the handling off even more, but the shortcuts are so good that you can drive slower and still stay ahead!)

ken c (ken c), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:02 (nineteen years ago) link

i got stuck on the "murder the journalist" mission last night. When do I shoot him?

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:04 (nineteen years ago) link

the hardest one i got to so far was probably the first mission with Zero at the toy shop.

Yeah, I can't do that either. And the REALLY annoying thing is that it cost me £30,000 just to open the mission! I should have saved my money really, I could've got a nice new house instead. I reckon it's just sidestory though, so I'm leaving it until as late as possible. I mean, I can get down to the last 20 seconds EVERY time, and then it all goes wrong. It's too annoying for words.

My usual outift is - baggy shorts. No top. Sometimes I don't bother with the shorts either, and just go out in my pants. Running around the docks in the rain in just my underwear feels very...apocalyptic.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:26 (nineteen years ago) link

WHAT ABOUT IN TEH GAME OMGWTFLOL

sorry...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 12 November 2004 16:38 (nineteen years ago) link

I am STILL stuck on Cesar's first car mission. These low rider cars keep doing 180s when I'm trying to turn a corner, and then if anyone was behind me, they're smacking me into walls while they fly by. I HATE HATE HATE GTA races. I've never been good at them. I've done every other mission that I can access, so now all I have is Cesar before more missions will open up. I've had to fight a lot of gang wars to release my frustration over the races.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Friday, 12 November 2004 17:52 (nineteen years ago) link

You don't have to use a lowrider to do that race you know. I can't remember what I did it in, something totally average, but yeah, it was a car that *doesn't* do 180s all the time, cos you're right, that's really annoying.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 12 November 2004 18:02 (nineteen years ago) link

The low-rider race is like the El Burro race in GTA3 - very fast cars, very stupid drivers. If you can get past the initial crashing, you can probably get a considerable lead and leave them behind.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 12 November 2004 18:28 (nineteen years ago) link

yeah take them on the pier final straight, I think I over took about 3 of them here. Use the 'Karate Kid' looking lowrider as opposed to the crappy flat looking one which is awful on the bends.

The export garage on San Fierro is a great way to get loads of cash.

Ste (Fuzzy), Friday, 12 November 2004 21:36 (nineteen years ago) link

if it hasn't been said yet, you don't need to do the girlfriend missions to get %100.

has anyone managed the gold medal at flight school?

i'm addicted to dancing. help

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:03 (nineteen years ago) link

The Pig Pen was a big BIG disappointment. The private lap dance was lame, LAME.

I know, I know, kinda like the real thing.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:12 (nineteen years ago) link

can anybody else never find stuff when they're looking for it?

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:16 (nineteen years ago) link

dancing is cool, I'm surprisingly good at it too.

that's good news about the girlfriend missions, I hope you're right, they annoy me no end. Though I think Millie needs completing to get a key card or something. Michelle is just a fucking pain.

do you have to do the 2 player rampages to get 100%, are there any 1 player rampages????

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Like what? Usually each mission has a little yellow beacon on the map.

x-post

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:18 (nineteen years ago) link

I can never find tags when I look for them, they always appear when I have no spray can or when I'm in mid cop/gang fight.

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Ah. Same here. I just make a mental note of where they were and then go back after I complete my mission.

I always have a spray can, though. Heck, there's always one in the bedroom.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:31 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm always swapping between spray can for the tags and camera for the snapshots in San Fierro.

Yeah I was upset about the Pig Pen too. Very poor.

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:39 (nineteen years ago) link

Maybe if I had told one of the dancers that I had some cocaine on me in the car.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:43 (nineteen years ago) link

I saw a pedestrian walking around with a box on his head in San Fierro.

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:50 (nineteen years ago) link

Cheers JimD and Ste on the help. I finished the race no problems. I'm so happy!!!

Jonathan (Jonathan), Saturday, 13 November 2004 04:26 (nineteen years ago) link

the user-defined marker on the map is a great help, if yr getting lost. en route to somewhere, flip to the map, get the cursor on where you want to go and flick the O button until a red blip appears on the map where you wanna be. then find the big red blip on the HUD map and follow that.
