the kanye situation is more ~twitter culture~ than trump, like hes going specifically alt right, where trump tho he is very good at tweeting basically just uses twitter as a way to broadcast his message and is culturally really "fox news", also kanye is roiling twitter more cause he crossed ideological lines (on twitter, specifically twitter ideological lines)
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 May 2018 22:07 (six years ago) link
Precisely because the Kanye situation is ~more twitter culture~ makes it all the more bizarre and weird that Trump (who is *not* good at tweeting, come now, he's an illiterate monkey) ruffles feathers the way he does. Kanye just plays into the twitter game. He plays by the rules, keeps tweets nicely at about the old 140 chars. Bite-size stuff, like or RT plz. I don't see how that is - apart from very sad - in any way remarkable. Nor how the platform is somehow to blame for it, as you state.Trump abuses the platform with brash irrationality and brain-dead thought farts. He's bad at twitter, which probably makes him good at twitter. Still a huge stretch to blame twitter for both of these idiots being on it.

everyone is dril sometimes on twitter, but kanye is definitely dril

can’t even begin to tell you how good quitting twitter has been for my mental health but i guess i’m just regular depressed instead of having my depression and anxiety constantly activated by a feed of bullshit, really no difference

High five for logging off, I haven’t been on at all for three months and that was just a one-day check in to make sure I was in touch with some folks about my birthday party.

― pplains, Thursday, 3 May 2018 01:48 (six years ago) link
is infowars itself actually good at twitter though, or just their personalities
that britisher basement-dweller guy seems to be their twitter pinnacle
― mh, Thursday, 3 May 2018 01:49 (six years ago) link
I dunno, I don't follow it.
― pplains, Thursday, 3 May 2018 02:22 (six years ago) link
Ive never followed political stuff or read or got into any discussions/debates (the short form seems entirely the wrong format for that), and the idea of even thinking about what Kanye thinks is not only alien to me, but counter-productive.
It seems to me that following that kind of stuff, combined with twitters 'endlessness' is hitting same part of brain as eg fox viewers watching endlessly and getting more riled, a form of radicalization (not necessarily in any direction but how that affects perception).
― anvil, Thursday, 3 May 2018 05:24 (six years ago) link
eel like kanye going maga is the biggest clusterfuck in the history of the platform and is on a very deep level 100% caused by it

isn’t it caused by him watching alt right videos on YouTube? he doesn’t even follow anyone on twitter

twitter is def psychologically agitating, its just a lot of info/opinion to be exposed to
― lag∞n, Thursday, 3 May 2018 13:40 (six years ago) link
I just started worrying about far too wide a swath of people; I can’t do anything to ensure the safety or well-being of random strangers having a bad time and that would make me very agitated.

enjoying the people who have been clowning the krassenstein bros
for anyone unfamiliar -- I wasn't -- they're a couple grifters who originally had "fan" accounts for justin bieber and a couple others and begged for retweets, and they've pivoted those accounts under their own names and are now grifting "the resistance" for retweets
also, they like cryptocurrency
