I can think of two or three dudes off the top of my head who might be interested.

do you dream of glamour and intrigue? murder and espionage? have you ever wanted to be a film noir star? or maybe just wear a trenchcoat and dark glasses? well, we can't offer you all that, but we CAN give you free food, $50 and a day in the life of a juror!

sisut, Monday, 1 October 2007 22:54 (sixteen years ago) link

You should ask who wants to be a Rural Juror!

Eazy, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 00:17 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesse, I am not going to talk about Radiohead on the internet.

I came to the conclusion last week that I spend too much time talking about stuff and not doing a very good job of it.

Jeff, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 00:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Speaking of talking about stuff on the internet, have we yet collectively anticipated 30 Days of Night? Jordan? Because I am f'n ANTICIPATING 30 Days of Night. That is easily my favorite horror comic.

Jenny, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 00:32 (sixteen years ago) link

Also: Sam Raimi!

Also: Vampires!

Jenny, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 00:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Jenny, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 00:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay, I'm done anticipating now.

Jenny, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 00:49 (sixteen years ago) link

I lied! I was not done anticipating! I started a thread! That is the third thread I have ever started on all of ILX.

Jenny, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 01:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Hi Jenny.

Jesse, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 02:02 (sixteen years ago) link

I am going to go with a boring, stupid flier like The Predecessor made, and then I'm going to make a fun one, sort of like what Katie was suggesting.

Jesse, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 02:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Then I'll present them both to The Partners.

Jesse, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 02:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesse, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 02:11 (sixteen years ago) link

El Cid just renovated.

Oh yeah and that is 1.5 blocks from my house.

dan m, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 02:15 (sixteen years ago) link

That's only if you're right by the actual square, though. It's a big neighborhood.

Sad I missed the Cubs rally today... Stupid work.

Jeff, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 03:10 (sixteen years ago) link

I am drinking Coors Light. Cheap (on sale) and tastes like water (a good thing at the moment).

Jesse, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 03:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I am drinking the lone beer in my house. ;_;

horseshoe, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 03:28 (sixteen years ago) link

I went to Foremost Liquors and got cheap Coors Light and hit their discontinued wine section. Last time I did that I got a 10 year old zin that turned out to be fascinating -- it showed a lot of age, and might have been coming to the point where it was undrinkable soon, but as it was it was the most interesting $8 I spent on booze maybe ever.

Anyway, tonight I got a bottle of zin for $5 and a German off-dry rose for $5. Here's hoping they work out as well.

I should really go to Foremost more often. It's in the Argyle ghetto, and it's pretty busted looking, but it's got awesome selection.

EZ, if you're there, do you know/think anything about these:

Pesenti 1996 Zinfandel (Paso Robles)
Baden Weingartener Spaetburgunder Wessherbst 1995 Rose` Halbtrocken

I can't wait!

Jesse, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 03:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Pesenti's History. Interesting. It was a run-of-the-mill inexpensive zin and then some winemakers started sourcing grapes from there, and now it's pricey (if you google it), so you got a great deal and your palette was right that it was something special.

Ah, that winter blue light and the amber Chicago streetlights.

A 12-year-old rose? That's a little crazy, but give it a try.

So the auction house is outdoing itself. The auction house is outdoing itself again with the next tasting. Le P1n goes for more than $1K a bottle, pretty much one of the most expensive wines in the world, and $50 gets you that and a dozen others.

Eazy, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 03:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Actually, my palette knows nothing just yet. The Pesenti is what I bought tonight. Wow, you're right, that IS 12 years! My wine-buying was all "I Love the 90s" tonight.

I really want to go to pre-auction tasting. I want to bring Courtney too.

Also, do you want to go see 'Night Mother? It has gotten pretty good reviews.
