the bowties are horrible adorable

jergïns, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 18:45 (sixteen years ago) link

the bowties lend such an air of Barney Fife-ness, I want to check the shirt pockets for bullets. There is also a sort of '50s gas station attendant vibe in that Bothell photo.

Jaq, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 19:37 (sixteen years ago) link

award is otm. you know who bothell class president is, rite?

Reasons 1-9 Why Not to Ride the Ferry in a Storm

WAU

gabbneb, Friday, 26 October 2007 20:25 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm happy that windstorms are the form of the NW's most common natural weather disaster and not anything else (hurricanes, tornadoes, freezing rain, etc. Yes we get earthquakes but not regularly, at least yet.) because you just gotta know to keep batteries, water, some preserved foods, and sleep in a room away from a crotchety old evergreen outside your window. STILL, everyone knows to not do much of jackshit when a windstorm's sting hits. Fuck riding a ferry. Get a room somewhere instead. It's cheaper than sustaining up to a grand in car damages because of megaswells that knock it around.

Although as a passenger, that must be awesome in a vertigo-addict rickety roller coaster kinda way!

Mackro Mackro, Friday, 26 October 2007 20:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Riding a ferry is like washing a hat.

The Reverend, Saturday, 27 October 2007 02:11 (sixteen years ago) link

I offered these photos to the WS Ferry System, but they told me these kinds of shots don't promote ridership. I couldn't argue that one.

that's a great little spot. the 5 bus that goes to my house stops right there.

jergïns, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 17:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Le bien, le mal.

The same day I finally get a new car, I find out that the reason my dog's been breathing funny is that he has a tumor in his nose and needs to be put down.

The Reverend, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 23:40 (sixteen years ago) link

:(

There's no way it can be removed safely? It's not a benign tumor?

Mackro Mackro, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 23:56 (sixteen years ago) link

There's no way to pay to have that done. He wouldn't have lasted another week anyways without taking any action, he can barely breathe right now. He's lived well enough. He's a large breed and almost twelve years old. But, all the same...

The Reverend, Thursday, 1 November 2007 01:32 (sixteen years ago) link

i am sorry for you, reverend.

lxy, Thursday, 1 November 2007 02:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh Rev :( He's such a great dog, from all you were telling us about him. I'm so sorry.

Jaq, Thursday, 1 November 2007 03:48 (sixteen years ago) link

jergïns, Thursday, 1 November 2007 05:56 (sixteen years ago) link

i will change the subject if that isn't too gauche (still, thinking of u):

there is an AMAZING ballet on, one of the 4 'contemporary classics' pieces. i mean like holy shit good, each and every one of you should see it. it's called caught, it's about 8 minutes long, and it's about the best dance i've ever seen. and i've seen a good amount at this point. i can't recommend it highly enough. seriously people, come down and see it. i'll get you in, just let me know the day. SOOOOOOOOO worth your time.

jergïns, Thursday, 1 November 2007 05:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Hey Rev. You got my number right? Let me know if you want to chat.

Mackro Mackro, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:46 (sixteen years ago) link

in the meantime, step back into history about a week or so and pretend you never lived here:

When you see a picture of this man:

What do you imagine this man is doing with his life? Who is he with?

Mackro Mackro, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh never mind. I just found this guy made NATIONAL NEWS. This won't work. fuck it.

Mackro Mackro, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks for all the sympathy, people. Attila's gone now. His ashes will be spread around an orchard near Sultan.

Mackro: I don't think I do, email me.

The Reverend, Friday, 2 November 2007 00:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Fucking hell, I just got laid off, and I have no money, cause I just spent it all on this damn car. I have $32. Fucking fucking fuck.

The Reverend, Friday, 2 November 2007 13:47 (sixteen years ago) link

(It's a nice car, I'll look quite stylish as I drive around to job interviews on E.)

The Reverend, Friday, 2 November 2007 14:02 (sixteen years ago) link

(Uh, E for "empty". I'm not in the habit of popping pills before meeting a potential employer.)

The Reverend, Friday, 2 November 2007 14:04 (sixteen years ago) link

I still can't fucking believe this. Not my fucking week.

Jaq, Friday, 2 November 2007 18:26 (sixteen years ago) link

there is an AMAZING ballet on

YES THERE IS!

seattlists, seriously, you should take this opportunity to see some of the best contemporary ballet possible. cannot recommend highly enough.

lxy, Saturday, 3 November 2007 07:38 (sixteen years ago) link

there is an AMAZING ballet on

truly truly - first ballet I've ever seen and now I'm probably ruined for all others. Really stunning and affecting - esp. Kiss and Caught. I'm no fan of Philip Glass who scored the final one (In the Upper Room), but it was fun, full of tai chi and park joggers and fit shirtless guys and cheerleaders. Bits and pieces keep replaying in my head today.

I never thought about people knowing a ballet as well as I might know a symphony or someone else an opera - the idea never occurred - but so many of the audience obviously knew and were thrilled by the first piece (Agon), that the puzzle piece dropped into place in my understanding.

Jaq, Saturday, 3 November 2007 20:15 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't think anyone is going to vote for light rail until they see it happen in 2009. Then people will start supporting it.

I'm more upset about i-960 passing even if barely. hopefully it will be ruled unconstitutional like much of other Eyman's initiatives.
