Obama seems to have the views of a 21-year-old Hispanic girl (HI DERE), Thursday, 4 June 2009 17:00 (fifteen years ago) link

I thought the 2000->3000 thing was awkward and lame and it seemed like the audience thought so too

Reggiano Jackson (gabbneb), Thursday, 4 June 2009 17:02 (fifteen years ago) link

I wasn't sure it was going to work as "3000" but by the time it was over I was fine with it.

Also, glad to see they're bringing back Max-as-perv gags.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 17:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Meantime, Nikki Finke has gossip and thoughts.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Juicy!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:07 (fifteen years ago) link

Cry me a river, evil-chin.

After the way he screwed Letterman, any poor treatment now is just karma.

Hatfail of Hollow (Nicole), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Since this has sort of turned into a general late night thread, who's placing odds on Jon Stewart taking over for Letterman when his run is over? CBS and Comedy Central are Viacom bedfellows, and I can't think of a single candidate more primed for the job right now (excepting Colbert, which could be fun if he carried over the character).

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:11 (fifteen years ago) link

x-post -- But his happy marriage. (No, seriously.)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:12 (fifteen years ago) link

How did he screw Letterman?

Nhex, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Who would do "The Daily Show"?

ugh I just imagined "Glenn Beck"

Obama seems to have the views of a 21-year-old Hispanic girl (HI DERE), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:13 (fifteen years ago) link

Helen Kushnick did it, really. Seen Late Shift? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116835/

xp

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:15 (fifteen years ago) link

Who would do "The Daily Show"?

CHAPPELLE, BITCHES

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:15 (fifteen years ago) link

by the time Letterman is ready to quit, Stewart will be in his 50s. Without the news-spoof template, I don't see a network betting on someone that old.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:18 (fifteen years ago) link

Didn't CBS only extend Dave's contract by 1 year recently? He's only a sure thing through 2010 I think.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:19 (fifteen years ago) link

"The Late Show with Demetri Martin"

okay yes, would absolutely watch this

One episode of the Morbs show would be more entertaining than a lifetime of Jimmy Fallon.

Hatfail of Hollow (Nicole), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Instead of a house band, there would be a white noise machine.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Can't wait for Dr. Morbius to interview some b-list actor, spend 5 minutes excoriating their latest project, then admit he didn't actually watch it.

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:45 (fifteen years ago) link

He'd be more honest than most late night hosts that way.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:46 (fifteen years ago) link

I have to say, my favorite movie press tour is still Kelly Clarkson begging people to not see "From Justin To Kelly".

Obama seems to have the views of a 21-year-old Hispanic girl (HI DERE), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:47 (fifteen years ago) link

I still need to watch that.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:48 (fifteen years ago) link

The movie is set during spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Texan singing waitress Kelly Taylor meets Pennsylvanian college student Justin Bell, and they fall for each other, and various romantic complications ensue. Kelly's friend Kaya falls in love with charming busboy Carlos; Kelly's other friend, Alexa, schemes to keep Justin and Kelly from meeting; Justin's friend Brandon is always getting on the wrong side of a sexy beach patrolwoman; and Justin's other friend, Eddie, tries to hook up with a cyberpal.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:48 (fifteen years ago) link

I think the phrase "hot garbage" was invented specifically for "From Justin To Kelly".

Obama seems to have the views of a 21-year-old Hispanic girl (HI DERE), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Sounds like a thrill ride unparalleled!

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:48 (fifteen years ago) link

I wonder if there was ever a Clay/Ruben movie in the works.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:49 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm sure somewhere on the internet there is an all too detailed story treatment for just that combination.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:52 (fifteen years ago) link

I recall somehow vaguely enjoying "From Justin to Kelly," maybe on one of those Sunday afternoons where there's food within reach of the couch, but I do recall thinking it could have used more of Clarkson looking hot

nabisco, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:52 (fifteen years ago) link

(been xposted by Ned into irrelevance but I don't care, I'm posting this anyway)

Actually had this been successful and spawned an entire series of AI finalist movies, that would have been hilarious!

"From Clay to Ruben"
"From Diana to Fantasia"
"From Bo to Carrie"
"From Katherine to Taylor" <---- LOL
"From Blake to Jordin"
"From David to David"
"From Adam to Kris" <--- sure this slashfic already exists

morbs' sidekick is dennis perrin, obv

Reggiano Jackson (gabbneb), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:57 (fifteen years ago) link

head writer

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:57 (fifteen years ago) link

woah gabb, you're Dennis Perrin??????

Obama seems to have the views of a 21-year-old Hispanic girl (HI DERE), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:57 (fifteen years ago) link

(I mean, I know it was an American Idol family-friendly movie, and part of the appeal of Clarkson is that she is not a sexpot by temperament or anything, but there is something odd about doing a beach movie in the new millennium that does not throw slightly more of a bone to the segment of the audience that finds the star attractive)

nabisco, Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:58 (fifteen years ago) link

I guess they figured the audience would be throwing enough bones of their own

Obama seems to have the views of a 21-year-old Hispanic girl (HI DERE), Thursday, 4 June 2009 19:59 (fifteen years ago) link

Actually I take that back, that is a horrible thing to ask for and I apologize
