The Benny Hill Show was a pre-emptive metaphor for ILX - Hill is the (ex)moderators, the scantily clad nurses are c-man, Momus is the slaphead obv.

I finish watching The Manchurian Candidate for the first time (good film but at this distance its paranoid weirdness sometimes doesn't work) and one of the first things I see is a link to a thread where I said "Dan I lick your frosting." So much is clear. I am off to play solitaire.

his humor always seemed like some caricature of a ghost of silent movie slapstick, like the result of misremembering bad 8mm prints of harold lloyd sped up to incoherence.
