if it hasn't been said yet, you don't need to do the girlfriend missions to get %100.

has anyone managed the gold medal at flight school?

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Saturday, 13 November 2004 00:19 (nineteen years ago) link

i'm addicted to dancing. help

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:03 (nineteen years ago) link

The Pig Pen was a big BIG disappointment. The private lap dance was lame, LAME.

I know, I know, kinda like the real thing.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:12 (nineteen years ago) link

can anybody else never find stuff when they're looking for it?

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:16 (nineteen years ago) link

dancing is cool, I'm surprisingly good at it too.

that's good news about the girlfriend missions, I hope you're right, they annoy me no end. Though I think Millie needs completing to get a key card or something. Michelle is just a fucking pain.

do you have to do the 2 player rampages to get 100%, are there any 1 player rampages????

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Like what? Usually each mission has a little yellow beacon on the map.

x-post

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:18 (nineteen years ago) link

I can never find tags when I look for them, they always appear when I have no spray can or when I'm in mid cop/gang fight.

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Ah. Same here. I just make a mental note of where they were and then go back after I complete my mission.

I always have a spray can, though. Heck, there's always one in the bedroom.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:31 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm always swapping between spray can for the tags and camera for the snapshots in San Fierro.

Yeah I was upset about the Pig Pen too. Very poor.

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:39 (nineteen years ago) link

Maybe if I had told one of the dancers that I had some cocaine on me in the car.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:43 (nineteen years ago) link

I saw a pedestrian walking around with a box on his head in San Fierro.

Ste (Fuzzy), Saturday, 13 November 2004 01:50 (nineteen years ago) link

Cheers JimD and Ste on the help. I finished the race no problems. I'm so happy!!!

Jonathan (Jonathan), Saturday, 13 November 2004 04:26 (nineteen years ago) link

the user-defined marker on the map is a great help, if yr getting lost. en route to somewhere, flip to the map, get the cursor on where you want to go and flick the O button until a red blip appears on the map where you wanna be. then find the big red blip on the HUD map and follow that.

stevie (stevie), Saturday, 13 November 2004 10:19 (nineteen years ago) link

i just won 200,000 on the horses.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Saturday, 13 November 2004 12:15 (nineteen years ago) link

how can anyone lose that first lowrider race??

Just install NITRO on your lowrider and use it whenever you can!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 13 November 2004 17:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah, Toaster. That was all my money that you probably won.

I also can't play pool anymore. Everytime I go into the Green Bottle, everyone puts their hands up or squats on the ground because I've whupped their asses one too many times, I guess.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Saturday, 13 November 2004 19:03 (nineteen years ago) link

how can anyone lose that first lowrider race??

some of us just aren't that skilled with the lowrider cars. plus, there are different cars that qualify as lowriders, and some are just way easier to handle than others. the voodoo car made the race seem like a joke, but the other car I was using was horrible.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Saturday, 13 November 2004 20:27 (nineteen years ago) link

honestly though just go to the mod shop and put 5 or 10x nitro in your car... and then if you press L1 your car gets like 20 seconds of crazy acceleration boost!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 13 November 2004 20:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Ok, explain this snapshots thing to me. I've not got any. Am I just meant to find nice things to take photos of? Or what? I don't get it.

JimD (JimD), Sunday, 14 November 2004 01:25 (nineteen years ago) link

it's an optional mission in san fierro, when you take all 50 pictures you get four weapon spawns at your SF safehouse. for a picture to count you need to have this little glowing camera icon in frame.

list of stuff that ISN'T needed to get 100% (i bought teh guide ha ha :( ):

2-player stuff
the arcade games
anything to do with the barbers, clothing shops, restaurants, tattooing, basketball, the RC missions, dancing, territory wars, gambling, girlfriends, mod garages, and the triathlons. OH, and unique jumps. thank fuck. I tried a few yesterday, and it took me like an hour to do five of them. i think that's everything

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 14 November 2004 05:05 (nineteen years ago) link

So dancing gets me nowhere? This game is soooooooo realistic.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Sunday, 14 November 2004 08:43 (nineteen years ago) link

has anyone killed their girlfrieds yet & if so does it affect the game?

lucifer, Sunday, 14 November 2004 12:43 (nineteen years ago) link

well, if you kill them you don't get to date them.

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 14 November 2004 12:44 (nineteen years ago) link

girlfriends (soz)

lucifer, Sunday, 14 November 2004 12:44 (nineteen years ago) link

denise does my head in, if i stay with her and get full bar, does she give out?

lucifer, Sunday, 14 November 2004 12:46 (nineteen years ago) link

if you get Denise to 100% she gives you the pimp suit.

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Sunday, 14 November 2004 13:01 (nineteen years ago) link

ahh! cheers.

lucifer, Sunday, 14 November 2004 13:08 (nineteen years ago) link

if i take denise to the chinese restaurant or the diner, she's had a miserable time. so now i just take her to the bar and do a bit of drive-by, every date's the same... does she just not like chinese food?

stevie (stevie), Sunday, 14 November 2004 14:51 (nineteen years ago) link

where is the chinese restaurant? I've taken her out for pizza or chicken, and she's content with that. she also likes dancing and 2 foot dildos.

Jonathan (Jonathan), Sunday, 14 November 2004 17:56 (nineteen years ago) link

go to some areas where she like... denise, being a cheap ho, seems to hate posh places.

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 14 November 2004 18:16 (nineteen years ago) link

(more) things that auggest that thought and care has been put into this project:

Radio stations have play lists rather than play orders (they're on shuffle play). And there are optional into/outros from the DJs for each song.

Being able to drive over small fences (but not smallish ones). Also swimming.

Just .. atmosphere. I yesterday realised that I've adjusted to the point that if I hear small-arms fire, I don't even assume it's about me until I get hit.

Changes I don't like:

Fat/muscle stuff. I understand now how it works, and how to make it work for me how to stop it working against me, so I know that you want to get really fat before eg the taxi missions, or really thin before a mission with a lot of swimming/running, but I don't see what good it does me. Why have I paid money to have a layer of stuff put between me and fun? See also:

Skill levels. Particularly the fact that they're not (as far as I can tell) actually skill as much as experience, and not interesting experience, just hours logged.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Sunday, 14 November 2004 22:31 (nineteen years ago) link

i think the skill refers to the dude's actual skills improving through the experience, like he drives a car better after driving for hours etc.

the fat stuff never bothered me but i havent played the taxi missions really.

does anyone know who "katie" is? on the "achievements" page apparently i've made 10% progress with her!!?? (but she doesn't even appear on the radar nor do i have recollections about meeting her? maybe i was drunk when i met her...............)

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 November 2004 00:47 (nineteen years ago) link

Sure, but it doesn't matter how skilfully you drive, you could just take the bmx and drive a circuit around Los Santos five times and you'd fill your gauge. I mean, I can see why it works that way in the world that it's based on. I just don't know why it's a good idea to put it in a game.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:35 (nineteen years ago) link

the skill gained does give increased ability, at least it does with the guns. A mate of mine has racked up enough kills with the shotgun that he's at the point where he can hold two at once now!

SEA BASS BATTLE (haitch), Monday, 15 November 2004 01:46 (nineteen years ago) link

katie's in san fierro, if you get her to 100% you get the medic uniform and you also get to keep all of your weapons whenever you're wasted thereafter.

the skills stuff isn't so great, i agree. mostly because i can't discern any actual difference between low and high skill levels, except in the case of the bikes. and the akimbo guns.

i think what aggravates me more than anything is THEY ONLY PLAY HALF OF FREEBIRD WHAT THE HELL. they cut off half the songs at their most awesome moments!!! the fat muscle stuff is stupid too, sounds good in theory but the constant maintenance is akin to a war sim or something.

anyone beaten the los santos arena yet? IT'S REALLY, REALLY AGGRAVATING. it doesn't really help that i'm apparently an awful driver, as i can't make any turns without piledriving into a wall.

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Monday, 15 November 2004 03:51 (nineteen years ago) link

i finally finished the main missions last night but only on 65% or something.

I'm a bit surprised that you don't have to do the unique jumps to get 100%! I suppose finding all the hidden objects will be hard enough.

Why do you need to be fat to do the taxi missions?

Yeah I don't like the arena games in this one, I can't get near first position on the los santos race and my car just becomes a wreck after a few laps. The bowl is stupid why have they adopted guns, it doesnt make any sense. the dirt track wasn't too bad but I did prefer it in vice city when you could take your time.

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 15 November 2004 09:28 (nineteen years ago) link

You can't leave the taxicab until you've got 50 fares in a row, and so you start getting hungry. So you lose fat, then when you run out of that you lose muscle, and then max health. So big chubby Carl is a good idea.

The car in the Los Santos arena is very floaty, you have to turn by easing off on the acceleration rather than braking. Or so I'm told.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 15 November 2004 09:37 (nineteen years ago) link

i've only just passed the blood ring yesterday.. fucking hard but using the radar really helps

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 November 2004 09:40 (nineteen years ago) link

is anyone else getting loads and loads of slowing down and glitchiness? is my 5 year old playstation 2 not up to the job? it's not actually crashed out yet, but on saturday i was playing pool against someone standing in a white void, and whenever it rains it goes to about half speed...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 15 November 2004 12:05 (nineteen years ago) link

I've had some odd slow-down moments, yeah.

the nitrous in the car makes it go a little doolally

Porkpie (porkpie), Monday, 15 November 2004 12:28 (nineteen years ago) link

Haha dude, you don't need to do 50 fares IN A ROW. just 50 total. I like to keep myself at abt 30 percent fat anyway though, to keep the muscle maxed and to have a buffer if i run out of energy. just going around doing the tags and collecting oysters maxed my muscles and stamina :(

i finished the los santos arena today... the trick is to just bully yourself to the front in the first lap, use the PIT maneuver to push the other cars aside. after you get to first place you can pretty much take it easy, make sure you're careful w/every turn, be slow if you need to since it just takes a few nicks to make yr car explode.

yeah, sometimes I end up going faster than the game itself (?), with the world loading after i pass over it. it really pushes the ps2.

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Monday, 15 November 2004 20:28 (nineteen years ago) link

I found the first territory trial really easy (is all the shooting in this game a piece of cake, or am I just used to it from playing Manhunt?). Are the rest any more difficult?

57 7th (calstars), Monday, 15 November 2004 20:58 (nineteen years ago) link

i got really fat lately cos michelle likes a fat man

ken c (ken c), Monday, 15 November 2004 22:39 (nineteen years ago) link

yeah michelle does my head in with her fussy size issues. Katie has given me the keys to her hearse though, she will soon be powerless etc.

Ooh and I now have the 'Turismo' car in my import garage.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 11:04 (nineteen years ago) link

so wehre do i find katie?? (is she in a hospital?)

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 11:30 (nineteen years ago) link

why does Zero have to be in this game. I hate him.

Big Baby Bingo (Chris V), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 11:31 (nineteen years ago) link

i can't remember where i met her from I tend to just say 'yes' to any woman who speaks to me in the game. she now lives near the toll booths to the golden gate bridge, i think the area is called 'paradise'

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 11:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Why can't i get back into the Mod garage? I've been once at the start of a mission (the first time it appeared), I tried to return later and couldn't get in. Tried in a few different cars as well. What's going on?

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:13 (nineteen years ago) link

do you know which garage it is? Certain garages only take specific cars, they usually say on their sign anyway. The street-race mod garage only takes a few types of car I think.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 13:28 (nineteen years ago) link

Don't know which one it is, I think it was at the start of the Carlos missions though.
