VAR gives FIFA at al even more opportunity to skew matches in favour of wealthier and more important nations and clubs.

VAR makes it less likely that weaker teams get a lucky break, which is fine I guess, but in combination with the rule changes it also means that mistakes weaker teams might make (fluffed clearances, marginally skewed arms, keepers slightly off their lines at penalties etc) are punished with catastrophic consequences.

Indeed, it's going like a dream for FIFA so far.
