Many of the series of shorts LJ mentioned were compiled for Pinwheel in the US. A treasure trove of worthy nominations fall under that umbrella.

Steven Universe will probably be my #1, even though it hasn't even ended yet. It's just been so amazing to watch something so imaginative, life-affirming and beautifully queer on mainstream television. It's my favourite TV series of this decade, cartoon or non-cartoon.

And Avatar the Last Airbender was probably my favourite series, cartoon or non-cartoon, of the previous decade. The last 15 years or so have been great for US cartoons with progressive themes.
