Adama Traoré is the Jonah Lomu of the Premier League. Just give him the ball.

spoken like a bloke who's never seen him play prior to August this year

Bojo Rabid (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 December 2019 22:12 (four years ago) link

lol I can remember those heady days when we were linked with him and after a watching brief he was deemed a "racing car without a steering wheel".

calzino, Friday, 27 December 2019 22:14 (four years ago) link

Now that's one EPL game I wish I had watched.

xxps pre traore chat
merry xmas ilf. that was lots and lots of fun! Traore should watch out, much more of that sort of thing and he'll be vacating the "thrilling for the fans but fundamentally useless" title in favour of Allan Saint-Maximin. (if he hasn't already, haven't caught much of Wolves or anyone besides Villa recently - is effective Traore becoming a semi-regular thing now?)

also as i'm checking in for the first time in quite a while, obligatory overenthusiastic drunk post about how much i love Jack Grealish. admittedly Villa have had fuck all the way of actual useful footballers since i started paying attention 20-odd years ago but seriously, he's the best Villa player i've seen by such a distance. safe to assume at this stage that he goes for (hopefully very) big money at the end of the season whether or not we stay up and then watch his smoke. he's an enabler. with good players around him he'll tear it up.

agree with Biscuits that Villa are probably doomed and it'll probably happen sooner rather than later. otoh this relegation scrap will be much more fun that the 4 or 5 that preceded relegation bcuz i like the players and i quite like the manager cuz i'm sentimental like that, and i think this time we're actually in with a puncher's chance. also jack grealish.

Nuno shoulda yelled "TWICE!"

Prem class Traore has been a regular thing this season - he'll never be the greatest reader of the game, but he's learnt to play with his head up, pick the right option more often than not, run inside as well as wide, good crosses, picks his moments to turn the turbo on. unbelievable achievement between him and the coaching team tbh

Bojo Rabid (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 December 2019 22:19 (four years ago) link

Also seems to avoid being dispossessed in the craziest of mismatches

looking for Mon in Alderaan places (Neanderthal), Friday, 27 December 2019 22:20 (four years ago) link

and like all players with ridiculous physical attributes he makes space just cos so many teams are double marking him now

Bojo Rabid (Noodle Vague), Friday, 27 December 2019 22:21 (four years ago) link

pleased for him. such a weirdly tantalising player, like waking up too early from a lovely dream just before it gets really good. enthralling. i spaffed my entire first window transfer budget bringing him back to Villa on the new FM out of pure whimsy and it didn't work out.

urno nuno

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Friday, 27 December 2019 22:30 (four years ago) link

I remember his first touch for the counterattack second goal against City in October and thinking huh he's actually gonna score that isn't he

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Friday, 27 December 2019 22:37 (four years ago) link

how many have done the double over City in the Oilball era?

Everton, in 2009-10, 2010-11. Obviously we've eased up a bit on them in recent years, but there was the 4-0 at Goodison in the Koeman epoch.

Michael Jones, Saturday, 28 December 2019 00:32 (four years ago) link

Only Conte's Chelsea in their title season have done it to Pep's City. Not sure in Hughes/Manchini/Pellegrini eras.

Prem is so much better for players like Traore, Grealish and Saint Maximin — great to see a dribbling revival. Maybe Ibe will come good too if he ever gets a game.

Ibe still looking better vfm than Solanke at the moment.

Nice goal from Mooy.

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Saturday, 28 December 2019 14:09 (four years ago) link

Have completely given up on us getting Mooy back, so his recent good form means Brighton will have to pay top buck if they want to make him a permanent signing in this window.

calzino, Saturday, 28 December 2019 14:16 (four years ago) link

looking at his goal and recent rave reviews of his "Aussie Iniesta" performances, finally one of the big clubs might come in for him. And we aren't under any pressure to sell to the first low bids that come, cos he just signed a new three year contract.

calzino, Saturday, 28 December 2019 14:47 (four years ago) link

sincere condolences to Windsor and Sarge Biscuits, ffs somebody sack Smith already

Bojo Rabid (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 28 December 2019 16:34 (four years ago) link

oh and BB, sorry

Bojo Rabid (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 28 December 2019 16:36 (four years ago) link

Kicking off asking for the goals to be disallowed is so fuckin weak :(

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Saturday, 28 December 2019 16:45 (four years ago) link

How are they so bad at defending? It’s unbelievable.

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Saturday, 28 December 2019 17:49 (four years ago) link

He just walked through a space the defence should be.

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Saturday, 28 December 2019 17:49 (four years ago) link

lol

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:03 (four years ago) link

Shocking decision

they need to change this asap

imago, Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:06 (four years ago) link

That’s the third one today.

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:08 (four years ago) link

We urgently need to sign a midfielder who can make a fucking tackle. And cancel Foyth's contract.

Matt DC, Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:08 (four years ago) link

absolute 100% guess, fuck this dogshit league and this pathetic away team

have no problem with binning Jose off by the end of this season if he's shown no ability or interest in fixing the mean room temperature IQ of these players

horrific stuff that

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:19 (four years ago) link

If anyone's still watching this travesty it looks like we've given head injuries to two Norwich players in the last five minutes.

Matt DC, Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:40 (four years ago) link

And it’s working!

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:42 (four years ago) link

Comic.

Srinivasaraghavan VONCataraghavan (ShariVari), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:48 (four years ago) link

Perhaps our CBs could refrain from leaving a massive gap between them that any Norwich player can just stroll through?

Matt DC, Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:49 (four years ago) link

:D

imago, Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:50 (four years ago) link

what're we getting first, a Labour govt or a Spurs team that can challenge for a title

wot's the tea mum? (not beef again) (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 28 December 2019 18:56 (four years ago) link

awful

Banáná hÉireann (darraghmac), Saturday, 28 December 2019 19:25 (four years ago) link

If Norwich are lucky they'll be so shit for the rest of the season that this game won't be the difference between staying up and not.

Matt DC, Saturday, 28 December 2019 19:26 (four years ago) link

fifth place B)

Number None, Saturday, 28 December 2019 21:42 (four years ago) link

Bojo Rabid (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 28 December 2019 22:49 (four years ago) link

looking for Mon in Alderaan places (Neanderthal), Saturday, 28 December 2019 22:56 (four years ago) link

watching those goals again now and honest to god what teams concedes three goals like that

not an ounce of professional pride across that backline and gazzaniga has shown what a limited keeper he is in his recent performances
