My boss is having a meltdown. Not that it makes a difference because all 3 of our stores have done hardly any business the last week. I’m still expected to work, since I’m in production.

no update from Sacramento yet but my guess is the same is coming soon

xp - do you do mail order, too?
Also -- does anyone know if the Department of Building Inspection is open or closed?
― sarahell, Monday, 16 March 2020 21:00 (four years ago) link
depends on how much cash you have in that envelope
― Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Monday, 16 March 2020 22:49 (four years ago) link
Luckily, we are headed back home tomorrow, but it has certainly been a weird time for a SF vacation
― Mario Meatwagon (Moodles), Tuesday, 17 March 2020 00:35 (four years ago) link
Xp yeah we do. My boss is being a dick about this whole thing. I spent 2 hrs embroiled in a pointless text conversation with her and the patternmaker, trying to convince her our 2 elderly seamstresses should not be working the same hours as each other because they work in the same area. I work way in the back and the PM works upstairs, and we’re making sure not to be there when the seamstresses are.

So, uh, anybody know if laundromats are still gonna be open?
― Fetchboy, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 05:58 (four years ago) link
there’s specific language allowing them to remain open. plumbers too.
― Larry Elleison (rogermexico.), Tuesday, 17 March 2020 06:01 (four years ago) link
Fantastic, thanks!
― Fetchboy, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 15:16 (four years ago) link
they have relaxed parking enforcement -- but not entirely! Oh San Francisco, so on brand!
― sarahell, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 18:50 (four years ago) link
why did they shut down w33d delivery argh
― Οὖτις, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 18:57 (four years ago) link
now that is a bad move -- you can get groceries delivered, you can get office supplies delivered, you can get medicine delivered .... seriously wtf
― sarahell, Tuesday, 17 March 2020 18:59 (four years ago) link
berkeley pot shops open for medical only, which of course I don't have anymore, so looks like I need to get an online card.

bike riding for exercise is okay, which ... i'm definitely going to do it, but i'll feel obscurely guilty about it.

Some businesses do not have the luxury of offering takeout or delivery. “Even though I think of mini golf as ‘essential,’ said Urban Put owner Steve Fox, “it doesn’t qualify.”

haha - that place is pretty cool actually. not the brewpub aspect of it, but the course/holes are very cleverly designed
was bummed to learn that Borderlands isn't doing mail order :( Had to resort to ordering from Powell's in Portland.
― Οὖτις, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 20:30 (four years ago) link
Powell's is closing too, isn't it? Just saw a Portland pal post about it
― sarahell, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 20:30 (four years ago) link
yes but their online store is open. Borderlands was previously doing mail order through Biblio.com, but they said they can't fill orders right now
― Οὖτις, Wednesday, 18 March 2020 20:32 (four years ago) link
shit Powell's just laid everybody off :(
um where can I order some books from

there are some libraries that let you join their e-book loan program remotely for a fee

Bunch of guys working on stripping and painting the house across the street. I know they need the money, but ...
― lukas, Thursday, 19 March 2020 17:17 (four years ago) link
housing construction and repair are considered essential businesses, and it's not like they are all up in people's faces. ... like Best Buy has been open all week. Yeah, sure it's all about providing people necessary equipment for working at home and homeschooling kids ...
― sarahell, Thursday, 19 March 2020 20:26 (four years ago) link
This is maybe partially about my incredulity that the new owners would repaint what was already the most recently-painted building on the block.Best Buy should not be open

yeah that's too bad. they made the decision last year though it appears. TBH I haven't been there in years; I think the last thing I saw there was the Notwist in 2003. OH wait I saw Wire there a couple of years ago. I have some nostalgia for the place since I saw american music club there about 50 times including what was their final show for a decade, and it was also one of the first venues I ever went to in SF (Robyn HItchcock in probably 88); but the sight lines were terrible and most of the bands they booked there over the past 15 years were not anyone I'd ever want to see.
― akm, Friday, 20 March 2020 23:24 (four years ago) link
I saw Dino Jr there a few months ago with my kid. They were very loud. Sat up in the balcony, thank god, since I'm old. Downstairs was PACKED.
― DJI, Friday, 20 March 2020 23:33 (four years ago) link

Saw a show there on the 9th, actually. Cult of Luna headlined a great triple bill. Had to have been one of their last. My ears were ringing for days even having had earplugs in.

Ride, Slowdive, Saint Etienne, The La's, Primal Scream, MBV, Suede, Red House Painters and tons I already forgot about. I always hated those poles and the walk back to Market Street to catch the 7 bus. I won't miss it really.
― svend, Saturday, 21 March 2020 01:59 (four years ago) link
Primal Scream? When was that?
― Οὖτις, Saturday, 21 March 2020 02:22 (four years ago) link
Probably a long time ago, during 92 or around there. Sure think it was Slims.

― Οὖτις, Saturday, 21 March 2020 02:30 (four years ago) link
Would have been amazing to see that tour in that small of a venue -- it was the Palladium in LA (the same show that's on the deluxe reissue).
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 21 March 2020 02:34 (four years ago) link
Out of all those bands I mentioned, I think Suede was the best live, it really was amazing to see a band on their way up internationally in avenue like that.
