I argued with a Trumper that he wasn't taken out of context because "disinfectant" was clearly the subject of the first sentence, so "something like that" basically meant "disinfectant or SOMETHING LIKE THAT", and they replied that no, "UV Rays" was the subject, even though that phrase appeared nowhere in the portion of the quote I had shared (I had left out the portion about UV)

that line is amazing because it supposed Trump had the genius idea of "hey guys...what if.... there was a medicine we could inject in the body that kills coronavirus?? anyone ever think of that?"

Yes, my gf mentioned reading this last night and because I never seem to learn that there's no ceiling to his profound stupidity I just assumed she was reading some out-of-left-field and totally made-up attribution on FB or something. i always assume trump is feeding back in mangled form either something stupid from fox or something told to him in briefs. so with on the latter idear i tried to search for what an invasive UV procedure to clean out ronas in your lungs could even be.

even if he really meant UV treatment rather than disinfectant, it's further evidence that he can't communicate well. And uh that's kind of an important part of being President. How many instances have their been now where his remarks need "context" or "clarification" or whatever (or the totally plausible excuse that he "misspoke" when saying he didn't know why it would be Russia"). I can't recall any other public official, at any level, being so imprecise with their language that they create all these "wait, wtf did he MEAN there" moments. Especially ones with the best words.
