I'll be DJ'ing a couple of sets at BLISS/Annie tonight.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Friday, 2 December 2005 14:12 (eighteen years ago) link

I'll be there.

dar1a g (daria g), Friday, 2 December 2005 14:53 (eighteen years ago) link

The gf and I may be there as well.

ZR (teenagequiet), Friday, 2 December 2005 15:39 (eighteen years ago) link

Tom you can feel free to go, I mean I'm already handling the move and the unpacking by myself so packing should be no problem.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The main building of the Library of Congress was evacuated for several hours on Wednesday because of a "suspicious odor," but the building reopened early in the afternoon, a library spokeswoman said.

STEPHEN YOU OK?

quincie, Friday, 2 December 2005 16:16 (eighteen years ago) link

Woohoo, I won tickets to Annie. Extra $$$ for beer is always good. Look for the tall guy in a black hoodie wearing either a High On Fire or Eyehategod t-shirt, because I like to dress the part when I go to indiepop nights.

adam (adam), Friday, 2 December 2005 17:09 (eighteen years ago) link

SAYONARA ARLINGTON, I HARDLY KNEW THEE.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Saturday, 3 December 2005 04:25 (eighteen years ago) link

Boo, VA defectors. How was Annie?

So, if I wanted to go to a Depeche Mode after-party next Fri. night, should I choose Black Cat or DC9? Black Cat seems a bit more in keeping with my taste. Right Round v Liberation; thoughts?

Anyone going to the Patiot Center?

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 3 December 2005 18:51 (eighteen years ago) link

Underwhelmed by Annie. Overwhelmed by poorly-dressed, poorly-dancing DC types and really expensive drinks. What the hell is going on with a $3.50 PBR?

adam (adam), Saturday, 3 December 2005 19:02 (eighteen years ago) link

poorly-dressed, poorly-dancing DC types

Are there any other kind? Ha, I will be one next Friday.

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 3 December 2005 19:07 (eighteen years ago) link

haha adam welcome to the big city.
I'm glad you were underwhelmed because that makes me feel better about not being able to go. And having to work today.

Guess what everybody? T-Mobile cell coverage doesn't reach our new apartment. Catherine Zeta FUCKING SHIT.

Anybody down with Vonage?

TOMBOT, Saturday, 3 December 2005 19:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Where do you city-types live now?

Mary (Mary), Saturday, 3 December 2005 19:22 (eighteen years ago) link

haha adam welcome to the big city.

No kidding. DC is not how I left it at all.

adam (adam), Saturday, 3 December 2005 21:15 (eighteen years ago) link

They were trying to dance? That's an improvement over the usual arms-crossed scowl.

I've used Verizon for the past few months--as promised, full coverage throughout the Metro system. Except for, you know, on the actual trains.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Sunday, 4 December 2005 04:26 (eighteen years ago) link

being drunk is awesome, guys

ZR (teenagequiet), Sunday, 4 December 2005 04:55 (eighteen years ago) link

Gotta try that again.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Sunday, 4 December 2005 06:27 (eighteen years ago) link

go skins. and alcohol. boo KFC and the stupidity that caused me to eat it.

JD from CDepot, Monday, 5 December 2005 01:49 (eighteen years ago) link

They *were* trying to dance, it's true. Were you near the front? It was too crowded to dance up there.. I was dressed very well, I think!

And I forgot about Depeche Mode. damn. I suppose there are only really bad seats left..?

dar1a g (daria g), Monday, 5 December 2005 04:49 (eighteen years ago) link

TOMBOT, email me. I needs you.

Spink, Monday, 5 December 2005 13:32 (eighteen years ago) link

Were you near the front?

I was for the first half of the set. Then I said fuck it and sat at the bar and drank steadily until my friends got done with their dancing.

adam (adam), Monday, 5 December 2005 13:38 (eighteen years ago) link

e-mail you? yayer@yayo.cocaine doesn't seem like it will get me very far.

TOMBOT, Monday, 5 December 2005 14:09 (eighteen years ago) link

You had my address before. I just cant check old mail at work through the web based shiot because Tbird at home pulls them off when I check.

Spink, Monday, 5 December 2005 14:17 (eighteen years ago) link

Annie got a mediocre review in the W. Post today.

Quincie, it wasn't me! None of my odors are at all suspicious, unfortunately.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Monday, 5 December 2005 15:17 (eighteen years ago) link

I got your address before by using the web based shiot here on ILX.
All I have for you in my gmail book is the old m-train thing that doesn't work.

TOMBOT, Monday, 5 December 2005 15:45 (eighteen years ago) link

You and I are definitely in the right career field.

TOMBOT, Monday, 5 December 2005 15:45 (eighteen years ago) link

There.

Spink, Monday, 5 December 2005 15:46 (eighteen years ago) link

Where's my goddamn snowstorm?

Stephen X (Stephen X), Monday, 5 December 2005 17:38 (eighteen years ago) link

HERE IT IS (it's 2:18 p.m. Rockville time).

quincie, Monday, 5 December 2005 19:19 (eighteen years ago) link

We're getting it here, too. Please close the city now.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Monday, 5 December 2005 19:39 (eighteen years ago) link

snowstorm behavior clearly visible from JEH roof cams at the intersections of 9th & 10th and Pennsylvania, big time. Unclear whether it's sticking. remarkably the cable feed from the roof cams is accompanied by some kind of christmas music comp. tax dollars @ work etc. etc.

TOMBOT, Monday, 5 December 2005 19:45 (eighteen years ago) link

Bostonians in my office are unimpressed by the snowfall, say it won't stick. I'm keeping hope alive.

Stephen X (Stephen X), Monday, 5 December 2005 19:53 (eighteen years ago) link

Not that this isn't fascinating but I need some help from music oriented ILXors. I need to find out where to make a demo and how much it would cost, if anyone knows any deals, etc. I emailed Pete but now I"m getting impatient.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Monday, 5 December 2005 19:55 (eighteen years ago) link

what quality are you looking for? what kinda music/instrumentation? how much are you comfortable paying, what hours, etc.? it can be super easy or super complex depending on what you want out of it.

ZR (teenagequiet), Monday, 5 December 2005 20:01 (eighteen years ago) link

Decent quality (personal reasons rather than an actual demo tape to be sent out), it is for a single singer so I guess recorded backing music would be necessary probably more gospel or R&B type music, I'm not sure how much we're comfortable paying for it, and only enough time to record 1-3 songs.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Monday, 5 December 2005 20:04 (eighteen years ago) link

i'll just email you - hold on a sec

ZR (teenagequiet), Monday, 5 December 2005 20:07 (eighteen years ago) link

petesmith (plsmith), Monday, 5 December 2005 20:59 (eighteen years ago) link

by the way, good luck/congrats on yr move, tom and ally! lets get a drink near yr new place sometime next week (this week is a wash for me)?

petesmith (plsmith), Monday, 5 December 2005 21:01 (eighteen years ago) link

I am now trying to picture Ally belting out gospel songs and the image just isn't coming.

quincie, Monday, 5 December 2005 21:02 (eighteen years ago) link

OH NO SNOW STOPPED (4:08 p.m. Rockville time)

quincie, Monday, 5 December 2005 21:08 (eighteen years ago) link

ZR (teenagequiet), Monday, 5 December 2005 21:57 (eighteen years ago) link

my window looks out on the back/inside of my building, so i cant see if its still snowing...

petesmith (plsmith), Monday, 5 December 2005 21:59 (eighteen years ago) link

How is it still snowing at Farragut but not Metro Center? I smell shenanegans.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Monday, 5 December 2005 22:20 (eighteen years ago) link

still snowing up at Van Ness. but the roads are clear.

Now reading the Post review of Annie. What in God's name is a "faux-hipster"? Please to explain! . That is just a nonsense word, I think. I liked the show. It was fun. The sound wasn't so great, I suppose, but I was dancing and it didn't bother me much.

dar1a g (daria g), Monday, 5 December 2005 22:59 (eighteen years ago) link

They now administer a test to a sample of the audience at Black Cat to determine the number of hipsters and "faux-hipsters."

curmudgeon, Monday, 5 December 2005 23:07 (eighteen years ago) link

How can you become a faux-hipster though? Isn't that kind of redundant? Or is this just the DC inferiority complex rearing its ugly head again? If NYC has a lot of hipsters therefore hipsters in DC must be fake.. uh.. somehow.
