mayo: the devil's condiment

I've been hearing about this midwest thing called "fry sauce" which is a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup, is this good?

It's also a Puerto Rican thing that's served with tostones

I didn't anticipate typing this today, but I have only grown to appreciate the flavor and sophistication of mayonnaise over the course of my life

I "invented" mixing ketchup with mayo when I was 7 or so

I would like to reiterate that I was served a steak and mayo sandwich when I was expecting a steak and cheese

There was so much mayo on this thing that I thought it was a steak and cheese until I bit into it

i mean how much mayo are we talking about on this mayo and steak sandwich? if it's a smear then i can't relate but if it's a layer or like a blanket of mayo then yeah that's gross.

Mayo and ketchup seems like a pretty innocuous and predictable mixture but an absolutely disgusting idea for a 7 year old to have

we only had salad cream, but I was mixing that with ketchup from a similar age.
How do mayonnaise-haters feel about salad cream? Think it's probably less offensive.

Yeah, i feel like mayonnaise was too posh for my family when i was growing up

miracle whip was the working class mayo in my area (western us)

what's odd about mayo haters isn't that they hate mayo, but that they feel it necessary to argue that mayo hate is a fundamental value of all right-thinking humans and eating mayo is ipso facto evidence of depravity.

it’s not too hard to make mayonnaise, it just requires an egg, a neutral flavored oil, and a little mustard, wine vinegar, salt, and lemon juice, and a food processor

i think i bought some bad mayo, even though the date implies it should be good? wasn't right.

mayo is probably ruined for a few years now.

I can relate to that. it will hopefully not be for that long. I couldn’t eat a lot of foods for a while after my college organic chemistry lab experience

you don't need a food processor to make much of anything, certainly not mayonnaise.

i will say i found it to be a lot less weird once i learned how to make it from scratch.

maybe it is not necessary, but my food processor is one of the best cooking items I’ve ever owned, and has made many of my kitchen experiences much easier
