I don't discount the likelihood of more violence, but I do think — hope — that these demonstrations are going to be mostly notable for being small and pathetic looking. It's a small side effect in comparison to all the grotesqueries and preening from GOP types in particular, but there is something telling that a bunch of people who thought they could get away with it -- whatever 'it' was -- found themselves humiliated on the broadest of scales, and clearly had no sense as to how or why they would be.

Very dumb to do $1400 checks and explain that $2000 included the $600 you got with Trump's name on it.

In the universe of things that can be called "very dumb", I'm not sure that is an outstanding example.

No doubt Republicans will beat them over the head with whines of "$1400 isn't $2000!" but if Biden can get another stimulus check (or more than one) passed later in 2020 it won't be a very effective tactic. And the COVID relief package Biden's proposing looks pretty damn ambitious. I admit I'm curious to know how they're planning to deal with McConnell torpedoing 100% of everything they attempt with the filibuster though.
