there has to be some multiverse angle to it since she doesn't recognize him at the door until he clearly implies he's Pietro by calling her his sister, remembers details of a prior shared event differently, asks him why he looks different, where his accent went (lol), though clearly in his universe he died the same way.

xpost lol yeah I laughed out loud. I'm glad too, her accent was bad and distracting in Ultron.

Just watched it again. First, the stuff about the kids comes from Pietro, who is an unreliable character at this point. Second, he kind of slyly, rhetorically asks "where have you been hiding all these kids? Probably just keeping them asleep to prevent trauma," before talking about the ethics of the situation. So ... really we don't know, any more than we know for sure where he came from, or who he really is.

i'm pretty sure everybody's frozen at the end of the street for reasons similar to that one episode of Rick and Morty, the program 'uses a lot of memory' so she's not able to keep the ancillary characters busy/doing things, they're like the crowd in RBI Baseball basically

I guess we'll see what happens now that she's expanded the bubble by hundreds of feet.

I definitely didn't read the scene this way - she's just stunned (because he's Pietro and because she wasn't expecting him)

how would Wanda know what that version of Quicksilver looks like? it definitely wasn't a "we called Evan Peters because Aaron Taylor-Johnson was unavailable" type situation as Darcy notes that it's a 'recast'.

or is your thought Wanda did intentionally recast him with someone else (and the fact that it's Evan Peters is more coincidental)?

yeah he seemed to want to know how the sausage was made way more than a normal person would

lol friend of mine is telling ppl on FB that merely saying you loved or didn't like an episode = 'posting spoilers' now

pietro reeled off a list of plot/character functions to wanda that he assumed he was there to provide to her world - at her behest - but it all seemed like it was news to wanda.

I think she's also in willing denial as to what her idealized world is doing to the very real citizens.

I binged all of this on Saturday and I can safely say it is the most enjoyable MCU related thing in recent memory (except for maybe the Holland Spiderman movies).

From the kids to Wanda's new powers, it read to me like nu-Pietro was fishing for answers himself.

This was my take too, but I'm an MCU noob and don't really have a handle on who everyone is and what they're capable of.

tbf a lot of wanda’s characters are hornswoggling her with their meta-sentience, not just pietro - herb & agnes have both asked her if she wants any changes, they’ve both been whispering together, and now of course vision

As an aside, are we all agreed that one thread of the main plot is "Something has happened such that Wanda now has Vision back to live an idyllic sitcom life, but his specific virtues mean that he can't not notice that something is wrong and fight against it"? I feel like there's an obvious example of this story other than this, but I can't place it.

Last week I thought Quicksilver was an example of this, but that seems a lot less likely this week? When he tells her that everyone has the same jobs, but better hair, how is he supposed to know that? It could be someone external to the situation plámásing her, but how would you plan that? Sending in someone in the hope that they'd keep their brief would be firing a bullet into the sun - Geraldine/Monica seems to have only regained agency because Wanda had new kids and memories of Pietro occupying her.

So in the comics Wanda's kids have something to do with Mephisto, right? Seems odd that they would introduce them in the show, give them the names and powers from the comics and then ... take them away. Certainly would be as if not even more traumatic than Wanda losing Vision and her brother, doesn't it? At the same time, can't imagine the kids sticking around the MCU as kids, or for that matter as adults, which would be strange, given the age of their mom. Any thoughts of how it might play out in the plot ahead?

i imagine this ends with wanda either not in the sunken place or sent to hell and the focus of Doctor Strange 2
i imagine this also ends with vision back alive and captain marvel 2 zipping along on photon beams

So Young Avengers is a) a thing and b) something they may just be keeping in their back pocket for later? Or it could be just more easter eggs for fans, I suppose, though like I said, I can't imagine them giving Wanda kids and then taking them away, after already taking away her husband and brother. I mean, of course they *can*, but it just seems a bit much.

what would be a bit much would be having this be a hysterical wanda story, which i think there is zero chance of considering the politics of this universe so there's gotta be a reckoning

(to be clear, the politics of the Marvel Studios world, NOT the politics of standard Marvel comics where hysterical wanda had been the norm for decades)

We already know Kate Bishop is coming into the MCU in the Hawkeye series, Cassie Lang has already been introduced and even recast for Ant-Man 3. Add some Champions (Ms. Marvel we know is coming in, maybe we'll see a Amadeus Cho, Viv Vision or Miles Morales?) Def seems like a likely direction, esp since the MCU is nearly 15 years old in-universe!
