“They will be in grief-stricken mourning,” said Huffman. “There will be ritual wailing and also a series of dances that encapsulate parts of the island’s history.”
From the little ive seen of uk coverage this does appear broadly correct

Civil servants and Ministers involved in ceremonial or other public facing events associated with the demise should wear appropriate mourning dress. This includes: dark coat, suit, or day dress; a dark hat and gloves are optional if appropriate for the weather; or dark lounge suit with black tie; dark overcoat if appropriate for the weather.

Departments communicating directly with the Royal Household should use black-edged stationery during the period of National Mourning on matters relating to demise. All other Government communications should be conducted in the usual format.

The fun thing about the Duke of Edinburgh was the fact that he came from the great tribe of the Perhapsburgs, Europe's peripatetic aristocracy: always hunting down a throne, marrying it's own money, declaring eternal loyalty to whichever perch on which it can feather a nest>— jamie k (@jkbloodtreasure) April 9, 2021

it wasn't just that he was an old bigot, it was that he weaponised racist slurs in an attempt to seem relatable and friendly, and it shows so much contempt for "common" people that he thought the best way to appear personable and likeable was to talk like this to them. It hurts my head to think about how many vile comments he made that didn't come out, and yet he continued to live a life of luxury to the age of 99. Meanwhile 127,000 people (mostly from structurally disadvantaged sections of society) have died in the past year due the pandemic, with 1000 deaths in a day becoming background noise, and this bastard is going to get eight days of official mourning. It's sickening.
