It's pretty funny watching everyone go bonkers (not so much the yawning, mind), yeah!

You've Got Scourage On Your Breath (Haberdager), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:28 (seventeen years ago) link

good on you son. now go out there and get yourself some poppage, you deserve it

-- (688), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Yawning = this is boring and you're perpetuating it and people keep doing it and, y'know, what's the point?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Congratulations: you're an internet troll!

jimn (jimnaseum), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:29 (seventeen years ago) link

xpost Dude, the counterpart of everyone else letting sleeping dogs lie would be you continuing to play nice and not bitch out in a flame-war of glory. If you actually enjoy it, or even want to pretend to enjoy it, I don't have that much sympathy!

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:30 (seventeen years ago) link

P.S. I think maybe that woman is Emo Phillips's mom.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Aw, I thought lotsa funnies went down in the past hour.

Abbott (Abbott), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:32 (seventeen years ago) link

OK, put it this way. This didn't START as a flame-out. It didn't START as trolling, or a bitch-fight. I'd be quite happy to post cordially, and get on with everyone etc. In fact, I'd PREFER it that way.

However, when push comes to shove, when people start ragging on me, it would be unnatural of me not to defend myself. Of course, my defensive method involves the writing of increasingly outrageous material, in an attempt to parody what the assailants are saying. This is both the most humourous and enjoyable way to do it IMO, and I like to be entertained. I actually feel pretty bad that EVERYONE quickly joins in and in no time at all (in fact, within about 3 hours of me joining the board) I'm not being taken in the slightest bit seriously. I enjoy the fact that I can hit back, but I don't enjoy the fact that people don't seem to understand what i'm doing, and that I don't actually mean anyone any harm.

It's the enmity that get me...

You've Got Scourage On Your Breath (Haberdager), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Funnies, we must away for break of day. I am going to console myself by reading Laffy Taffy wrappers.

Abbott (Abbott), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:39 (seventeen years ago) link

you'd better shape up Louis. you'd better understand. it's like El-P says, next time these finks jump on your back you need to put those bitches on ice. no more bleating about Charlton tho OK?

If these women weren't so selfish they would just go with the natural flow and have their post-childbirth vaginas remodeled into housing for the needy.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:47 (seventeen years ago) link

Louis, I kind of get what you're doing. But it's tiresome and you must see by now you're setting yourself up for increasing levels of reaction until it all explodes in a maelstrom of zingingness where all you're doing is going "please zing me" and people will get increasingly less tolerant of you.

(xpost, thank you for getting thread back on track)

re: louis
and in fact regards things she sees on Internet messageboards as 'creepy'.

i don't get where this type of idea comes from. what's weird about finding something on an internet messageboard 'creepy'? internet messageboards are just another means of communication. reactions like this are like stuff you read about the early days of the telephone. HONEY, LISTEN TO THIS, SOMEONE OVER THE TELEPHONE JUST SAID HE WAS GOING TO MURDER OUR CHILDREN! HOW HUMOROUS THIS NEW DEVICE IS!

critique de la vie quotidienne (modestmickey), Saturday, 6 January 2007 04:41 (seventeen years ago) link

See here's how it is: if you're a regular on here, you can tell girls they're cuet, and they go "oh hee hee, thank you!"

If you're not - forget it. You're creepy.

Fin.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 6 January 2007 04:54 (seventeen years ago) link

but I didn't say a girl was cuet. That was fake-Louis, remember? My own following comment about the obsidian eyes was 100% tongue-in-cheek.

oh hell, let mickey have his moment in the spotlight. my work here is done.

Several people have told me that I should die because I don't like certain video games, or I suggested they be more polite to new folks(granted, I stopped being polite to that person when they refused).

It's common sense that the basic rules of civil discourse(including turnabout) apply.

I don't know where else to ask this but is that "Louis Jagger" and if not is Louis Jagger a real poster and what is he notorious for. I read ILX a lot but I feel like I'm being punked whenever I hear him referenced? I would ask on the main board but I don't want to cause a dust up. Thanks in advance
