love that arteta has accommodated ESR and Saka, in a workable team, finally...for ones so young, they have literally years of experience playing together, coming through the academy at arsenal, that understanding is priceless for a coherent attack, at this level, we are decisive and threatening

No, I can hear the crowd from my flat and that sounded like another goal.

Stonewall pen
Xhaka off
World-class save ramsdale
We were robbed of this one tbh
― fix up luke shawp (darraghmac), Sunday, 26 September 2021 17:24 (three years ago) link
I missed the moments Tottenham were robbed of this, genuinely.and a bit confused...you had a few chances but arsenal ran the majority of this game, amazing save from ramsdale, arsenal transfers fitting in nicely, doing that thing you assume should happen every time i.e. strengthening the team in key areas
― Swanswans, Sunday, 26 September 2021 17:29 (three years ago) link
No no we were robbed and are actually an excellent and admirable group of players and not cunts
― fix up luke shawp (darraghmac), Sunday, 26 September 2021 17:34 (three years ago) link
Nuno hasn't figured this team out and I for one, am a happy man today, thanks for the 1st half no show, totts, we needed this bad, you have no idea.
― Swanswans, Sunday, 26 September 2021 17:41 (three years ago) link
Nuno can stay its senior players and chairman need gone

nuno blaming the players is kind of hilarious. levy is destroying kane's career

lol
i mean levy didn't want to negotiate with man city to move kane
it seems to me that spurs focus too much on their striker at the cost of the rest of their players, but spurs' style doesn't jibe with me, so whatevz
― Punster McPunisher, Monday, 27 September 2021 01:36 (three years ago) link
Would agree with the second part
No onus on us to negotiate anything with anyone for a player under contract though
― fix up luke shawp (darraghmac), Monday, 27 September 2021 04:04 (three years ago) link
No onus, but...I thought the received wisdom, from a squad point of view is that if a player wants to go, then there's no point in keeping them at the club...I recognise moving kane on might have been a hard sell to the fans, at the start of the season but.....it was a lot of money to rebuild with
― Swanswans, Monday, 27 September 2021 14:43 (three years ago) link
Think there's an identity crisis at play abt us being a final destination club for top talent which relative to how levy carries on in every other facet is delusional unless it's performative to appease fans so id agree there
Our squad is gummed up with youths done good who have stopped doing it for us
Didnt tbh think kane had this in him mind you and citys offer was an insult, so....both sides, a bit
― fix up luke shawp (darraghmac), Monday, 27 September 2021 14:48 (three years ago) link
as an arsenal supporter, I was worried we had become too relient on children of Wenger that have played at the club for years, but hit ceilings in their development. A few good transfers have really changed that picture again. This league needs you now to have top players across the whole team. Good, sometimes very good players just don't cut it anymore without some world class in there..at least in the fight at the top positions in the table.
― Swanswans, Monday, 27 September 2021 15:03 (three years ago) link
dele Ali is one i think needed to have gone somewhere else by now, definition of unmet potential, way more talented than he's been showing, its a shame
― Swanswans, Monday, 27 September 2021 15:05 (three years ago) link
Three years since he delivered in a run, or at all
The free striker role, running into gaps and space to finish, was a great gig for him
Anything requiring keeping the ball, playing smart and (at this stage) work is showing him up as a quite limited player
Most english players are done developing as professionals once they perform once in a league game, i dont envy coaches working with these lads
Reports of a training ground mutiny this morning
How the fuck could they tell tbh

I liked Nuno's efforts at Wolves a lot but the three Spurs performances I've seen really make me feel like it's really bad fit.
― in twelve parts (lamonti), Wednesday, 29 September 2021 07:43 (three years ago) link
His last season at Wolves was pretty bad, tho maybe not entirely his fault
― look on my guacs, ye mighty, and dis pear (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 29 September 2021 08:53 (three years ago) link
Theres not a coach/manager in world football that gets a tune out of this squad at it's current juncture, not even at a "this coach is generally defensively minded" level but at the actual "these guys wont run for me regardless of philosophy" level so if not nuno then mason and until paratici either does his nominal job in turning it all over or is shown to be just another insulator against levys parsimony it really doesnt matter who is in the dugout
― fix up luke shawp (darraghmac), Wednesday, 29 September 2021 10:12 (three years ago) link
It certainly looks like a rabble that refuses to be managed at this point
― look on my guacs, ye mighty, and dis pear (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 29 September 2021 11:06 (three years ago) link
idk, of the fairly established players, it's only Kane, Alli and Ndombele that are obviously playing within themselves regularly at the moment. I think Sanchez, Dier, Lucas and Bergwijn all put a shift in but they're limited players with low confidence getting their weaknesses exposed by a bigger collective failure.
It's hard to understand how Doherty goes from being a core part of a decent Wolves team to not being capable of performing at Europa Conference League standard or how Reguilon managed to transition from one of the best attacking fullbacks in Spain to someone averaging three or four potentially catastrophic errors per game over the course of half a season. You can clear out the dead wood but whoever gets brought in seems to catch the same virus.
― Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Wednesday, 29 September 2021 11:36 (three years ago) link
The influencers of this team are the core virus
Alli, dier, winks can get away with any level of performance and be too valuable for levy to move on at any price, ndombele and aurier are not going to catch any "i better straighten myself out here" vibes as they join and observe the culture
Lloris is an abysmal captain
Kane as the king behind that throne divorced his own interest from that of the team as mourinho joined and is now obv many stages further still divorced

― Gardyloominati (Neanderthal), Saturday, 2 October 2021 14:08 (two years ago) link
I'm watching Chelsea-Soto, a corner just floated over everyone and Chalobah was mooching around the back post, pretty much bent double to head it in. Commentary are calling it "straight off the training ground", definitely not, pure opportunism since it missed Lukaku's head etc but I'm really happy for this young kid, maybe now people will get his first name right. Probably not

and Newcastle equalizes as Sa lies prone on the ground in the box after an ill-advised dive for the ball and can't get back in time to stop the long distance shot.

Lage gets a yellow, and a fan throws a single water bottle onto the pitch at Molineux
they all believe should have been a foul called against Sa and goal shouldnt have stood.
I don't agree. think SA just made a stupid move there and got hurt on a 50/50.
― Gardyloominati (Neanderthal), Saturday, 2 October 2021 14:45 (two years ago) link
Werner actually puts away the sort of shit he constantly doesn't, lengthy VAR check decides Azpilicueta fouled someone some years earlier, poor Timo just can't catch a break...
― One-Eyed and Incredibly Mearns (Jonathan Hellion Mumble), Saturday, 2 October 2021 14:48 (two years ago) link
Wolves still the better side, and goal only really scored because goalie lying on the ground and barely recovered in time as the shot was coming in. (granted, it was his fault, but)
Wolves can easily win this. I think Traore can run circles around them.
